RE: Promo Boats
Promo boats are usually great deals. Usually the people that have them keep them in great shape, and they're driven by people who know how to drive them. They are usually less than a year old, and I would not hesitate to buy one.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. We specializes in Nautiques and Correct Crafts, and also provide general service for Nautiques fifteen years old and older.

Most promo boats are immaculately cared for and maintained. They are also set up very well to make the drivers happy (good tracking, smooth steering, smooth throttle, dialed in perfect pass, etc.). Most of my previous 23 boats have been sold to friends who have all been very happy with them. I do have my 2007 6-Liter ZR-6 Powered 196 still available for pickup in September (shameless plug). For most promos you should expect a boat in perfect condition still under warranty ready to use. Here is a link to mine: http://www.davekrohne.com2019 Ski Nautique 6.2 arriving soon

From my perspective, I can't imagine adding weight to a boat on purpose. I would actually pay quite a bit extra to reduce weight in my boats if that were possible (e.g. an aluminum block engine for an example). As far as the ZR6, the jumpers always LOVE my boats at tournaments, lots of PB's. It is also a big advantage on short set up sites where the boat is completely settled down prior to the 55's and not still accelerating. I have had that engine in my last 5 boats and find it to be a very sweet running and efficient engine. I like the closed cooling and think that overall the life expectancy is increase because of it. And a final note from a gearhead like myself, you just can't have too much horsepower! (as long as it doesn't come at the expense of extra weight) Those are my opinions, not necessarily representative of............
