Doesn't a Ford typically feature the distributor in the front, and Chevy in the back? BKH

The distributor area is also the easy way to tell the difference between a 302 and 351 engine block. (Not sure if the 302 was ever used in a CC). The "pad" that the distributor sits on on a 302 is flush with the front rail that the intake manifold sits on. On the 351, the pad is about an inch lower than the rail. So if you look directly behind the distributor shaft, you will see what I mean....

You can see the pad by where the hold down bolt is. Notice there is a little wall behind it before you get to the bottom of the intake? This is a 351.
