Opinions of 1971 Nautique. Please Help!!!

I have found a 1971 Nautique, completely redone. Interior, exterior, everything. I was wondering if anyone has ridden behind one (wakeboarding). Hows the wake one these early CC's. I believe it is a skier 17' with a 302. Will I be able to ballast this boat for a bigger wake or is it too small to handle and weight? Thanks for the input.

Don't know about the 70's...but my '88 was a great boat to wake board behind. Also, the lake that we go to frequently has several older model SN's that seem to be rigged for wakeboarding. Don't know what the wake is like, but in watching the guys behind the boat, they seem like they are having a blast....

I had a 1977 Ski Nautique That I put a tower on. With about 1000 lbs(ballast + people) a 77 will through a nice wake. It won't get as big as the 80's models, but it was big enough to learn basic inverts behind.

I skied behind a 1979 Ski Tique last fall. You can definitely tell there has been a lot of research done for hull design in more recent years. This thing throws a monster wake, especially if you have someone sitting behind the motor box. I'm not a wakeboarder, but as a skier the wakes were very large though not too hard. These older boats are quite narrow and there is not much of a table at slower speeds.
