I installed a custom ballast system by Stealth Industries on Saturday.
I used to Fly High Pro X Series 750# bags, and a pair of Ballast Puppy pumps. The system will fill or drain in 7 minutes. I can pump either side up or out at will. I elected to not connect my locker bag as I never drain it except before winter.
Total cost was about $925, and took 5.5 hours plus a little prep work the evening before.
Huge props to the Zman for the design and a ton of help installing this system.
We drilled two 1 inch holes under the swimdeck for the thru hull fittings. Installed the thru hull fittings with a sealer adhesive. I had a custom bracket built by a neighbor of 1/4 inch aluminum. We assembled the pump block with the pumps, ball valves, clamps and various fittings. Next, assembled pump block was installed by mounting to the port stringer just behind the support upright. After this, we ran all the intake hoses, dropped in the bags, and connected to the output lines of the pumps. Hooked up the vent lines to the existing vents from the original tank system that was in the boat. Ran a 10 ga. wire harness from battery # 2 forward to the switch plate, mounted next to the drivers seat, and back to the pumps. I am still waiting for the stainless screens to cover my intakes, but am using the plastic ones that came with the thru hulls in the meantime.
Lastly, we pumped up my boat and went ridin for the rest of the afternoon !!
