Feeling Screws through Vinyl on 07 210 TE

I recently purchased the 07' 210 Team Edition and have noticed that the screws for the hinges and gas shocks can be felt when walking/kneeling on the engine cover/storage doors. It feels as though they could poke through the vinyl if someone didn't know what they were doing. Worse yet they could do some damage to a kneecap or the bottom of someone's feet!

What gives? Anyone else notice this? Are my screws too long?

Sounds like no backing plate in the back of screws. Take back to dealer they will fix it!

I felt one on the engine cover of my buddies 07 also. Seems like the screws could be replaced with shorter ones or cut the tips off the existing ones and put them back in.

I have the identical problem on my 07 220 TE. The forward most screws on the back hatch for the storage tray on the engine compartment are too long. I noticed one and had the dealer replace it at my 25 hour service. Just noticed another last night. Sounds like CC has a problem here.

Anyone from the factory listening in on this one?

I don't think this is just applicable to new '07's. On my '03 since I know where all the screws go through, I can pick a place, press hard and then feel the tip of the screw. I'm pretty sure that there are no block in the upholstery to catch the screws. They are just relying on the fact that in most cases, you have a large surface area pressing on the screws and thus won't push the cushion far enough to feel it.

Let's go back a little further.

On my 2000 Super, I had two screws that I could feel coming through on my observer's seat. Made the dealer switch them out. Yeah, it's a little painful to find it with your hand or knee!! Factory worker: "Looked good from the side I screwed it in on......"

Here's your sign... Oh well, I hope a different guy put my prop on.

I have the same issue on my 95 SuperSport. I tried to remove the screws on my sunpad to cut them down and they just spin. Looks like I will have to remove the upholstery to get to them. Any suggestions on what glue to use to re-attach the upholstery to the fiberglass on the underside of the sunpad?

Same thing on my 05 211. I pulled the screws and ground the tips off. My wife had one poke through the vinyl and draw blood on her heel.
