I drove a Prostar 214 a couple of weeks ago with that guage. It was really very easy to see in the sunlight. It was set up to display PP, depth inluding an interesting graph of the bottom, speed, and something else I dont remember. I thought it was pretty cool.

Yeah, that makes more sense... MC is a smart company and they are perfectly aware of CC's mistake with the digital guages in '00. They wouldn't be stupid enough to put the same mistakes in their own new technology. I think we can expect more postive reviews than not... As much as we might think its ugly, most of us think the MC boats as a whole are ugly anyway... so, wouldn't they look great together?

You do know that CC puts tribal graphics on their boats as well, they were just a little late to the game (i.e. beginning last year).
Ive noticed. They come off really easy with a hair dryer and fingernails though.

I have not seen the new MC multifunction display in person yet. I am still pretty sure that my white gauges, with black numbers, and orange pointers are still easier to read than any thing electronic.

First let me say that I love my 211.

That said, the finish in/on my buddy's MC X45 is beautiful. Black/White color scheme. The interior is perfection. The gauges are very nice. Runs really well for a big boat. The interior is finished like a fine automobile. My 211 is finished like a nice gelcoat/vinyl boat.

I have demoed a 236 and a 220. Both are nice, but the interiors are nowhere near as nice as his boat.

I have been a CC snob forever. The 211 is my 2nd (my last was a 1998 Air Nautique). I used to ski behind several 2001s. I would have never considered a MasterCraft if I had never seen his boat. I have never seen an X-Star up close but I can tell you for sure that I will be spending some quality time with one soon. Hopefully the X-Star fit and finish are not as nice as the X45 (so I will stay with CC).

The thing that really pisses me off about CC is their ridiculous color and finish options. Not that I need a red metalflake boat, but come on, less than 10 colors and no option for a colored deck or a different striping scheme. I would be happy to pay extra for a colored deck and a different color choice. My dealer and I have both had communication with CC and they answered with an unequivocal NO. Maybe I will too.

On the Mutifunction LCD - it seems more & more manufacturers are turning to LCD displays to add technology to their boats. Malibu have done it this year with details on their webpage news section. Looks good and I am sure it will woo lots of people at boat show, but on a sunny day during proper use it might not work as well as expected. I like the Mal's designb a bit better than the MC. I like my CC gauges & dash functionality, simple, but everything is there at your fingertips & easy to read.

On the MC's interior - it is cosmetically very very nice, but we have started to service a number of MC's at our dealership & I find more & more I dislike at every service. The foam is a little soft for my liking but nothing major. The Vinyl has so much grain in it you nearly have to scrub with a brush after each use to get it totally clean. The seat bases are by one of my biggest worries - bare moulded plastic just doesn't do it for me. The tower for me looks absolutely fantastic & the strapless racks are a godsend but that is where it ends for me. The tower has so much side to side wobble it's just terrible. The X2 & X15 that I have spent some time in look absolutely fantastic but just don't have that rock solid feel to me. Just my 0.02c... not wanting to start a war of words, just my limited experience with the product.

I totally agree with the statements that you made. I was riding in a new X-Star just recently and was amazed at how much movement there is in the tower side to side. They use huge diameter pipe, but the weak part is in the flat billet sides that allows for all of the movement. Also, the interior did have a bit too much grain for my taste....it just had this dirty look to it even if if was clean. Those things aside, it is a great boat and produces a very nice wake! And yes, the wakeboard racks are fantastic!

Guages look like they belong on a PWC.

I gotta ask, what the heck are "tribal graphics"?

mc and tige both use the medallion lcd screen i drive both all the time and have had no probelms reading these gauges in the sun i do prefer the tige layout better than the mc just not a big fan of the mc dash at all. dont rag on mc to much about their ballast gauges not working i cant tell you how many ballast gauges ive had to replace in 210's 03-05 will just say alot.
