    226 Opinions, comments, feedback

I am in the process of trying to help my buddy buy a new boat to replace is MB B52. My boss has a 226 that he is trying to sell for $50k with only 50 or so hours on it. The 226 is a limited, but has all the features of TE (just minus the Ballast). The ballast is not that much of a concern as we live near the POP weight guy and can purchase them from him.

I have searched this site and have not heard a lot of feedback or opinions on the 226. I have talked with Murray and got his opinions, but I am looking for more general feedback.

I have a 211 and know how sensitive it is to dial my wake in. I am just curious if the 226 is similar.

Any comments are appreciative. We are going to demo it next week..

I have wakeboarded behind the 226 and LOVED it! The wake was not a 210, but big and wide. The one I was on was a Team with the Zr6. We didnt need any extra weight however more just makes it better. PerfectPass I guess was a little touchy or so the owner said... Boat handled like any other Nautique, like a sports car on water. Side to side wash was not bad at all if I remember correctly. Overall I loved it and I own an '04 210. The wake has a different shape, but I really enjoyed it, still gives you a great tow. Even with low gas 3 in the boat and only stock ballast.

Good luck with your decision. I hope this helps!

      RE: 226 Opinions, comments, feedback

A little bit late in responding but - I have a '05 Team 226 with ZR6 and we love it. There are also few 226'ers here in the Forum and so far they all have reported to be enjoying it too. The boat fits our needs just fine. We were looking for a boat that had ample space with lots of storage. The 211 was my next choice but just a bit small for us. Wake size was not high in our priority at that time, but now, that seems to have changed. I'm hooked in surfing and I cant seem to get enough of the size of the wake. With fat sacs and pop bags you can achieve pretty darn good wakes. I have stock ballast (900 lbs) plus 2 fat sacs (450 lbs x 2) and 13 pop bags (520 lbs) spread out. Despite all that weight, the boat feels solid and still drives good.

The 226 is sensitive with weight placement. The wake is much cleaner on the starboard side. The port side wake is cleaned by shuffling folks onboard or adding bags.
Stock ballast wake is wide, lots of ramp, and the lip is not steep. You will have a smoother landing compared to the classic 210's wake.

Boat's main characteristics: very minimal bow rise when you accelerate. The 226 handles like a small boat. It is super solid on choppy waters, thats because of its weight - yes its heavy. Because of the weight, I recommend the ZR6 to go with it and either an Acme 644 or 1234 prop.

Overall, the boat is Great. Too bad its not as popular as the 211 or the 210. I still wonder why this boat isn't as popular as the other 2 models. Maybe poor marketing by CC.

Hope this helps if not, Shoot me a PM if you have any questions.
