    What Boat Would You Own

Jeff this might be applicable for your meeting with CC too. Many of you who frequent themalibucrew.com site have probably already seen this but they have a poll out there that asks; "if Malibu didn't exist which brand would you own". CC is in the lead closely followed by MC. The feedback is interesting and telling regarding the various opinions on CC. Most interestingly; the things that you all seem to like most regarding CC is what they get dinged on most for over there. Examples are; boxy style, shorter windshield, etc. Also interestingly the thing you don't like about the 236 (the dash) has been highly praised there.

Hopefully this doesn't get moved because I think it is directly applicable to CC. If I were them I wouldn't only look for feedback here, I'd be looking for it at the other sites too. Maybe that is what spurred the move to make their boats look more like the others?

RE: What Boat Would You Own

I did own a 06 Malibu VLX before my 07' 210TE. The malibu looks great and all but the build quality sucks. I had nothing with problems with it from day one. I looked at the Xstar and they told me that if you enter anything with a tad bit of salt in it the ballast gauges wont work period. Come on MC step up and fix the simple stuff. I ended up with the CC because I heard form everyone it was top notch. Havent had any problems yet (only 34hrs). Yeeehawww!!

Wakecrashin, yes I'm familiar with your story. Glad the 210 is working out. Seems like you may over generalize a bit but again, glad you are happy with the new boat. No question, CC's are great.

        We own an 04' 210 TE, but wouldn't mind having a 236.

        Wakecrashin -

You were not alone. I have several neighbors that own 06' Malibu's and each one of them has had their share of problems. Someone told me that Malibu's production was insanely high that year, so they thought that might have been part of the problem.

I have a 1990 SN. Its in really good shape and works great for a 17 year old boat. If I were to buy a new one, it would be a 196. I personally like the styling of the 196. I hope CC doesn't make any drastic changes to it.

I had a Ski Supreme for 15 years and had no construction or quality issues. It is still a nice boat and only has 750 hrs on it. That said I am having trouble selling it now because it is not a major name brand anymore. In its day it was considered a quality boat probably had the highest rated trick in 1987 when it was new.
When I made the decision to go newer I made a conscious decision to go with a Nautique. even though I free ski in open water most of the time now I need my slalom fix. 196 was the only boats I looked at and I didn't want an open bow. 196 has classic 3event lines that most aspired to have. My nephew skiied on college teams for 5 years at NLU and then Arizona. Ski Nautique is still the standard in that world that skiers judge against.
My new boat is a 2001 196 and it is an awesome ride.
I too hope CC does not lose sight of what got them here.

I REALLY liked the Malibu VLXSE that I bounced through for some time at the boat show. I also would seriously consider the M-Wakesetter LSV

The X-1 was in my final 2 when I purchased my SAN, so I would also consider that again.

Throw in the X-Star and somewhere in there I would have another boat.

Then again, if/when I purchase another boat....the wife will probably be making the final decision and we will have a large Doral aft cabin..... :|
