I bought my '97 Sport Nautique just over a month ago and am trying to fine tune the wake. Currently I have around 500lbs of lead under the back seats, 2 side sacs (claimed 520lbs) either side of the engine and a locker sack (claimed 380lbs). The wake is nice but I would lile to make it a little more vert. I'm thinking on adding a furter 100lbs of lead under the seats but am curious to see how others are weighing their boats.

man sounds like you really want a wake.i fill both side tanks and the center if need be.then of course put a poor sap or two back there to dodge the rope all day long  .seriously how big a wake are you looking for.i,ve tried different combinations, but finally broke down and bought a good wk brdg rope and it made a huge difference in terms of getting air.i'm cheap.... and had been using old skiing ropes for awhile.a really good rope is alot cheaper than lugging around an extra 1200 pounds on the boat.i know we have different hulls, but myabe this will help.98 sport gt-40

thanks cmd. I don't think I am going crazy with the ballast compared with some. I'm totalling around 1400lbs at the moment - but you are right I do want a big wake!!
I think given the current setup, I have too much weight forward and not enough aft. The last time out I only half filled the front locker sack and this made a more rear biased weight distribution hence more vert wake. Think I'll try a further 50-100lbs hidden under the back seat and see how I get on.

the wake is clean from 21mph up. I'm not overly bothered about increasing the size of the wake, I really just want to make it a little more vert. The wake is actually very similar in shape (not size) to my old Mastercraft prostar, but is a little too mellow fo my liking.Loch Lomond: Scotland

I agree the air being a direct drive needs a lot of rear weight to develop a nice lip at the top.
I currently run about 800lbs in the very back and 300ish in the ski locker. I also try and get most of the people on board to stay out of the bow. I think 2 extra sacks on the side of the engine cover would be awesome
