That would be a little steep in California (close to the factory), but it might be reasonable considering your location? I cannot imagine paying more than $1500 for a single axle trailer.
i bought a v/m custom trailer that was never used just sat in the vm yard for 3 years for 1700 including tax/ license. i had to replace all the carpet and had a brand new trailer.
search craigslist!!!!!!
i found 5 trailers in my area for inboards for 800-1600$ all in great condition dual axle with removable tonques.
