Need Objective Opinions Please!!

I had a '94 Ski Nautique, and while we never got into deep shortline, we did ski and board behind it quite a bit. It was a great boat, and we often comment now that it would have been nice to have been able to keep that boat when we bought our new one. It never gave us any trouble, and we really enjoyed that boat. We did 'foot behind it a little bit, and it seemed more than capable to us. It had the 240 HP engine.

Here's how the wake looks at wakeboard speed with several people in the boat.

I have heard many good things about the 91-94 MC's wakes, but as far as features and appointments I feel they were behind the SN of the era. I will say the wake on my SN is so sloppy that it may be fairly soft for slalom but I can't barefoot behind it at all. The front deep longline start is challenging to say the least behind my boat. When you're on your back, the wake just beats the crap out of you. I'm hoping to conquer it this year. If you can longline off these boats, it's a pretty good test of your form!

I had and loved my 90 MC Prostar. Had the 1.5 powerslot, and I just thought it was the greatest. Never had any problems.

I used to own a '90 MC prostar 190. It was a great boat. The slalom wake was very flat in my opinion. I never did wakeboard much behind it so I couldn't tell you much about that. The powerslot tranny was available from the late 80's on. It had 1.5:1 gear reduction. probably going to have the most power out of the hole than any other boat of that era with only 240hp. The only Nautique I could compare it to was a buddies '88 2001. It didn't have any power out of the hole and had a large rooster tail in the wake. I didn't like waterskiing behind it, but it was a good wakeboard boat. Good luck, I'm sure there are a lot of choices out there in that price range. Don't rush into any deal, and ski and or wakeboard behind as many as possible.

My opinion!!
The early 90's Master Crafts had good wakes, but didn't track as well as my 93 Nautique. My 93 Nautique was also better in choppy water. What I like most about my 93 Nautique was its vesatility. We hit the coure or barefooted in the morning, then loaded up and boarded after that. Mine too had the 240 hp. No matter what you decide to buy, if it has a motor in the middle, it will be a great boat.
