new 2001 SAN. andi have a ton of ?s help......

i just sold my 1997 mastercraft prostar (hope thats nota bad word here) and bought a 2001 super air nauti v-drive. i have a ton of ?'s about her, so i hope some of yall can help.

1)can i fill/drain my ballast while im driving boat?

    2) how long should it take to fill ballasts? it took me like 30 min to 3/4 fill them the first time i went out. is this right?

3)how many lbs are each side ballast?

4)im thinking ill add 2 amps tower spkrs/sub to boat. do i need to add a battery too?

any advice yall can add to a new nauti owner?

    thanks!!

RE: new 2001 SAN. andi have a ton of ?s help......

The MC Prostars are great boats, so don't feel ashame when you owned one.
But for wakeboarding you should enjoy the 2001 SAN wake!

    1) Yes/yes
    2) 5 minutes, so it doesn't sound right if you need 30minutes. Are the pumps running (1 for filling, other one for draining)? Is the sea-**** open?
    3) In 2001, around 200lbs each side
    4) I would always suggest a second battery in the system. But also take a close look at the altenator

And enjoy the boat. One of the best wakeboarding boats produced in my opinion! Post some pics.

      thanks for the fast response!

it took a while to fill the ballasts. both pumps are working. i had to replace the ''fill'' pump, so it has a new 750 GPH pump. maybe the sea **** valve isnt opening all the way. from closed position (running port to starboard) the valve opens 90 degrees (to look like its running bow to stern). is this right?

where can i buy the seat that goes in b/t the drivers seat and the back seat to make a full bench all the way around the boat?

      thanks!

30 minutes to fill the rear tanks is very, very long. Mine are still the stock pumps (I have an 01 also) and they only take about 5 minutes. If yours eventually are filling, you may be right in that the seacock isn't opening all the way. Unfortunately it's difficult to see the actual valve unless you've got the rear seat and floor panel out.

If you're referring to the moveable seat, dealerships might have one or more laying around and should be able to order one. Also they come up on ebay from time to time.

First off congrats on the new toy. You will enjoy it for a long time.
I just want to expand on some of the answers already give.

If you are still having trouble with ballast it may be that they are filling but the floats are stuck and not registering. You will see water coming out the back sides if they are filled.

I don’t know if CC actually made a seat for behind the drivers seat. Most I’ve seen have been made by the owners. Some on this site that have the systems built into that.

Also, if you are planning on running additional accessories I would add an additional battery with an Isolator/Combiner or comparable config. And upgrade the alternator if it is still the stock. The Stock is a 55 amp Alt and will be over-worked easily with just the normal accessories let alone a couple amps pulling power.

If I’m correct no 01 came with a belly ballast. The Skylon Locker Sack Fits very good in there.

Make sure you have the valve open in the engine compartment to fill. Then close it after done.

right now im getting over a broken knee (back roll gone wrong) and im not supposed to be riding for a few more weeks. BUT, i had to ride behind the new nauti and i must say this. the ride behind this boat has such an effortless pop off the wake. i was shocked the first time i rode behind it! i just sold my prostar 205 (comparable in boat size) and the explosive wake this boat has made me a NAUTI fan for sure now!

back to the ballast. it wasnt the gauges b/c we were actually lifing up the carpet to see how full they were. im thinking it could even be crimped hoses if its not the seacock??

i read somewhere on this board about a group rate for boat covers. count me in if any of yall are making this happen.

                  thanks for the responses yall!

on the ballasts, the sea **** valve was corroded a little and WASNT opening all the way. havent put it back in the water, but im sure this was the problem.

                          Good to hear!!!
One last remark about the hoses going and coming to/from the ballast tanks, these aren't 100% bullit proof. After a few years they get solid and tend to break at some point. It can happen that the pumps are sucking a little air when pumping. I changed these hoses every 2 years, just to be sure (I also kept the boat in an harbour and really don't wanna to let these break).

How about some pictures from the boat??

We also have an 01 SAN, We've put almost 100 hours on it so far and have had minimal problems. If you are going to add a couple amps to power the speakers you must go with another battery with an isolator/or a combiner as stated above. Also i would upgrade the alternator, our stock one stopped working and only had 1 500 watt amp pulling power from it. Plus more power never hurt anything either. Congrats on the New Boat i'm sure your going to love every minute on it..

plus yellow nautiques just look good.
