    220 owner questions - prop/tower

    I am considering selling the 05 211 TE and getting a 07 220 TE. I have a few questions:

    Prop:
My current 211 TE 330 came with a Acme 644, and i I run stock + about 1500lbs so I changed to a Acme 856 which works great. What prop will the 220 with a 330 need with about 1500lbs extra ballast? (Btw, i would rather have the 375 motor for the 220, but the one i am looking at has the 330.)

    Tower:
How hard is it to get the tower up and down on the 220? Does it take two people? Can a jig be built to allow one person to do it? I was thinking of making a fixed length rope that goes from the pylon in the rear to the tower. I would connect the rope and push the tower over center and the rope would hold it. Then I would go to the front and hold the tower and dissconnect the rope to let it down to rest. I could reverse this procedure to put the tower back up.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

    RE: 220 owner questions - prop/tower

I've mastered lowering/raising the tower by myself on my 07 210. I've got the spinner racks and Defcon III speakers on that thing and it weighs a ton! At first I would have someone stand on the enging cover with the ski rope to help me get into position to lower it, but recently I've just been going for it! One of these days I'm going to blow out my back or something...

i run the ACME 1234 on my 06. It is a 14.5 x 14.25 and it is awesome. i regularly run 1500-2000k over stock (before people and gear). the hole shot is awesome and it holds speed incredibly well. the 1234 is a RH prop, i think the 1235 is LH prop, which you would need, but check with ACME first.

as for the tower i have no advice...

You're ditching the 211? nooooooooooooooooo TDC is correct about the 1234 rh, 1235 lh. I have the 1234, I think it would be pefect for the 220 also.

I always have a helper when I put up/put down the tower. Personally, I do not think it is the weight but more the issue of transitioning it past the center point. That and the height (reach needed) when it is near straight up and down.

I just pull the speakers off..it takes about 2 minutes and it saves you from blowing out your back.

How much do those speakers weigh? I been thinking about the rope to centerpoint idea as I don't want to have to rely on a 2nd person evertime I pull the boat in and out of storage.

Don't really like the idea of yanking the speakers off either but I should probably do that anyway when towing to prevent all the bugs.

The speakers run roughly about 12lbs a piece......The spinner racks I bet run 15lbs each....So with my four tower speakers and two racks I'd be looking at about an extra 78lbs. if you have to put up the tower each time you take it out I would suggest the second person or removing the speakers!

I managed to get the tower down on my own but man.........I used a rope to help maintain the balance at centerpoint so I could transition worked out well enough still pretty heavy though. Not something I want to do after being out on the lake all day. Going to have to find a storage garage with taller doors.
