    SuperSport weighting for optimal results

I have a 1995 SS.I know quite a few people have these on this site ,trying to find the best config.I have 2 350lbs in the back and a big one,i think its a 600lb in the ski locker.I really would like to plumb these together for auto fill and drain. The prev owner had them plumbed but i think the setup doesnt work so well.He used 4 Tsnami pumps,2 to fill the back ,2 to empty the back.No auto ballast for the center. They were plumbed into the raw water pickup line,i dont think this is the best way of doing this.I have a 1.5 scoop i was going to put in the hull and make the pumps work off of that.I already have Tsuami pumps that i would rather use(i know they are not self priming).I need to make them work somehow, any ideas?
    Thanks

RE: SuperSport weighting for optimal results

I don't have any pictures, but can take some. I have a 97 Super Sport and have two Fly High 400# in rear each filled by a 700gph rule and empties by a couple of 600 gph pumps. The 600# Fly High in ski locker is filled by a 1100 gph rule and emtied by a 600 gph pump. All the bags fill within 5 minutes and it takes about 5-8 minutes to empty, but empty doesn't matter to me. I put two 3/4 ID scoops in engine compartment and hooked up the 1100 and one 700 to those. I then put a hole in rear and put like an aerator screen to the 700 to fill one of the 400's. I have three "3" postion switches at the driver side where the switch is for hatch. I ran a 1" ID hose (8 ft) from 1100 in motor box to front ski locker then put a reducer to 3/4" ID and ran to top of bag at bow. I have a pump to empty hooked directly into bag in ski locker to empty. I have no overflow lines as they backflow through empty pump when full, but they do stay full. I did have to put a flapper valve after the fill pumps to keep from back siphoning. I made a wiring harness that ran from throttle to motor box with five hot wires and one ground. I grounded all the rear pumps at the motor, but ran only one ground to swtiches and jumpered the ground. There are some pretty good articles on here about ballast systems, but feel my way was pretty good. I saw a MC that had three holes in transom that would also make a good install point as you have lot's of room in that section of the motor box. Make sure you put shutoff valves before the pumps to keep any accidents from happening. E mail or pm me if you have questions. Takes some time and alot of patience, but is well worth it. We put the boat in and flip the switches and by the time the first person is ready, so are the ballast bags. The wake is incredible on these things. I also have 130# lead weight in the nose area.

Here is my opinion on optimal-

Rear = Pro-x fat sacs probably only fill to about 600 before the overflow.
Center locker= rear seat bottom 650lbs
80 in lead or steel by driver seat to offset prop rotation
200 lead all the way up in the nose of the boat.

I ride my '98 with 800lbs. underneath the bow, 700lbs. in the ski locker, and 600lbs. under the rear hatch. Makes an awesome wake to ride behind and we only have to fill up a couple K more to have a nasty wave to surf behind.
How 'bout a little reverse action...
