    Urgent: 2004 FCT Tower Question

I am trying to setup a pair of WetSound Pro 80's and am having troubles with the installers. They say this is a hollow tube (The cross member) but where it connects (the weld) is not open into the tublar part. So, if I want to mount the speakers on the rear part of the tower then I need to either go up the rear arm from the hull or put caps in this cross member so they can fit a drill into it and create a hole.

Does anyone have advice of where to mount the wetsounds considering I would like to put a bimini top as well?

Are these cross members hollow (yes) but where it connects is it open or closed?

Yes, you are absolutely correct. The cross member is hollow, but not where it connects to the round bar. If you want to mount the speakers to the rear bar, you have a few options:

    1) The simpliest way and the way several others have done here (including myself), is to bring your speaker wire out of the front round bar and back to the speaker (still looks good, see picture below on redelf75's boat). By doing this, you don't have to drill into the cross member and put plugs everywhere.
    2) Bring the speaker wire to the back round bar through the side cross member where your flight clips are attached.
    3) Bring the speaker wire to the back round bar through the top cross member.

The last two require a great deal more work because you have to drill a large enough hole with a hole saw in the cross member in order to drill another hole into the round bar where the round bar and cross member meet.

    Hope this helps!

Put my speakers on the rear bar and ran the speaker wire out the front, if your bimini is below the speakers the wires will be mostly hidden anyways.

Gotwake ran his to the back bar as you can see in this post, quite a bit more complicated.
