    2008 w/ 290H.P. 6.0L as a barefoot boat?

I'm considering trading in on a for a 2008 206 w/ the 290 hp 6.0L to use as a barefoot boat. Since I won't own anything other than a Natique, I was hoping someone might have a 6.0L in thier 196 or 206 that could let me know if it is all that or if any other barefooters have been content w/ the excalibur?

I think you 390 hp not 290 hp from the 6.0, although I do beleive the excaliber at 330hp would be fine for footing, not sure how the table is though.

Your right, my mistake. I have the GT-40 as well, but need that little extra. Kinda wish Correct Craft would consider a new Barefoot Natique.

make sure you get the hydro gate and you will love it. that gate really cleans up the table behind the 196. it is better for resale as well. What colors are you thinking of?

I have an 05' 206 w/Excalibur & no Gate, we have pulled 4 footers (footin thread) at the same time around 38 balls to the wall, 3 guys deep no problem up to 40, big guy's alone you have throttle left, pulled Hollywood alone at 160lb up to around 45. I seriously considered the ZR6 but am happy with what I have, if you are not afraid to spend the extra money get the ZR6 otherwise the Excalibur is all good. Table is nice wake crossings are no problem. We always foot from the tower also.

Good luck, very happy with mine after almost 3yrs and 170hrs later.

Had a 2002 196 with the excalibur and currently have an 05 196 with the ZR6. 99% of the time the Excalibur was more than enough but there are times when the ZR6 is nice to have. Barefooting is one of those times. I have found with the ZR6 that controlling barefoot speed is much more precise than with the Excalibur. If you want 41 it is very easy to dial in. With the excalibur it is more of a hammer down and then adjusting is much more difficult.

To put it another way my next boat will have the ZR6.

I have an 03 206 with the Excaliber. With one 200 lb footer and one spotter and a half tank of gas it will do 43 WFO on GPS. I don't foot that often but some of my ski buddies do. They tell me its fine, but I think that in a perfect world they could stand to have some extra ponies.

Thanks for the responces, I'm leaning towards the 6.0L Other items will include the tower, and perfect pass. Don't know much about the hydro gate however. Since it will have to be a special order, I'm really excited about building this boat from the ground up. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

I would say go for the Hydro Gate too, if you don't it may always be one of those "...you know we really should have added the Hydro Gate."

Put a couple riders in the boat who want to come out and watch and your speed drops off quick.

I've never heard anyone say "I really shouldn't have ordered this bigger engine..."

                        Agree with Hollywood.

Unlike a lot of other engine upgrades this one actually includes a decrease in weight.

                        Excalibur 950 lbs
                        ZR6 930 lbs.

Is that it? Is the ZR6 the vette engine or a stroker? Just curious.

I believe its related to the 6.0 Corvette engine. Its not a stroked 350. The weight difference is due to the aluminum heads.
