One other note, don't rule out Sports either. They are the same as an Air minus decals, tower and ballast. Alot of folks have scrapped the factory ballast due to fill/empty issues and use sacks instead. The 400 or so pounds from the factory doesn't make much a difference anyway. Throw 2 vdrive sacks or a single fat sack in the trunk and another in the ski locker and you have 1000+ lbs hidden.

I had a 2000 pro air, not my favorite boat I’ve owned but it wasn’t too bad I don’t think the wake is any better than regular air when you weight them both up you cant till much difference. And on my pro air could never get perfect pass to work that good and when I talk to the people at PP they said that’s pretty common on that hull but they did really help try to make it better. Just my 2 cents and I only wakeboard.

There is a reason they stopped making the pro-air........just buy a regular air, build a ballast system, and your good to go

RJ - thanks for the links. I did see that boat in the "Boats for Sale" section, and it definitely one I would consider if I was in the market now. I still have my boat to sell before I start looking for a Nautique. If I get lucky and sell it in late Sept/early Oct. that would be great. But in this area, boating season is winding down and you don't see a lot of activity until the March/April time frame.

My guess is that current Air/Pro Air owners will be looking to sell their boats around the same time next year when they are looking to buy the new 2008 models, which hopefully means there will be more pre-owned boats to chose from (keeping my fingers crossed).

I'm really trying to use this time to research, get opinions, and get all my info together so that I'm prepared when the time is right. This is a great web site with lots of knowledgeable and helpful Nautique owners, and I have learned a ton during the 2-3 months I have been on "The Planet". Thanks again for all of the input.

Red check out the website www.Correctcraftfan.com They have all the brochers/catalogs on the site you can look through them by years (correct craft reference section). You can go all the way back to 99 and see the differences/inprovements in the model. I used to own a 98 sport/air then sold it to buy a house. I then bought a 99 pro air but had to get rid of it due to some personal issues. I loved both boats. I liked my sport/air a bit better it seemed to be more versitale. I board more but others that come with me ski and barefoot. The pro air does throw a killer wake. You can really notice the difference when weighted down at boarding speed. The rear really squats down and digs in. I loved both boats, I am currently Nautiqueless so any boat at this point would do. But if you are serious about a wakeboard boat and don't want t v-drive the Pro Air is the way to go in my opinion. Good Luck

Thanks Labatt for the info. I did stumble on the Correctcraftfan.com site and did see where they have a good library of brochures and documents. My guess is that when it comes down to buying my first Nautique, I'll look for both Pro Air and Air models and drive/ride behind them. I have seen some threads about PP not working well in the Pro Air because of the turbulence that the hull creates, but it seems that some owners have been able to get it to work.

My goal is to get a DD boat within my budget, that provides a respectable wake, has been well cared for and serviced, and is in good shape inside and out. I guess I'll know more in the spring.

And again a big thanks to all the posters for their input and opinions. I know this Nauty newbie really apprecaites it

Red I sold my Pro air for $28,000 in June. With 400 hrs one owner and very clean boat, it had all the options for that year except pop up cleats. FYI

The PP issue drove me crazy cause when I would ride in friends boats there PP would be prefect. Had to add allot of weight to get a good wake then PP would get even worse.

The digital gauges are a problem to but that can be fixed that's all Nautiques in those years.Don't get me wrong its a good boat I used it for six seasons. Were I wakeboard only I'm much happier with the 210 and I don't think the wake is any better with the pro than a regular air and PP would work better. Hope this helps

Just the kind of info I'm looking for Flip. Thanks. PP is definitely on my wish list and I certainly want it to work well. I guess I'm going to need to read up on all of the threads regarding re-doing the ballast systems in the AN boats. Since I have never owned a boat that has a ballast system, I really don't have any perspective on how easy or hard it will be to do.

I know the hulls are probably different, but I have a friend that has a 2007 216 cross-over DD with the 400 lbs. of ballast option and tower, and it threw a great wake (in my opinion). My guess is that I may not need to add all the other sacs and weight to get a wake that I'm happy with. I'd really like to avoid using all of the storage space up with ballast bags.

Keep all of the advice and opinions coming - it is mucho appreciated.

PP worked fine on my 99' Air, the ballast system was OK, in some ways better then that in my 05' 206 as it could be filled and emptied without the assist of a pump. Both boats would leak slightly in or out if the manual valve just past the pickup is open. Pumps on the 99' did need to be replaced every 2 or 3 yrs. The pumps were an option so you may come across some boats without them. There is a large floor locker which could be used for additional ballast although we never did and you could also add some bags in the trunk over the ballast tanks. The speedo's on my 99' were terrible if there are any weeds around which our lake does have. Other then that the 99' was pretty much maintenance free through the 5 yrs and 500hrs we owned it.

Red - Here is a good discussion on the Pro we all just had. I didn't go back and read the thread, but you might be on it. If your looking for that style boat (not a Pro Air) but an air give TMB a call. He has a sweet boat 4sale. He is also a great guy.,,,
