    Potential Buy.....Need Advice

I'm looking at buying a 1992 Barefoot Nautique with the 454 Vdrive w/650hrs. The boat has been garaged for it's entire life so the hull and interior are in great shape. The engine is tuned and running great as well. I'm not big on the design of the tower but it has a sick sound system and a tandem axle trailer to go along with it also. He wants no less than $13k....should I jump on this deal?

I rode behind the boat yesterday but it was just me and a driver so I don't know what potential it has to shape a decent wake. What kind of weight do I need to put in it and what kind of wake (shape) can I expect out of this hull?

not a bad price, not a good price. a boat that has been cared for though is worth thousands. the price is not off, just not excellent. you might find a boat for a few thousand less, if that, but not int eh shape that you like it.

I like the graphics too. tower is a bit weird, but you could always get rid of it..

the tower would have to go. if your looking to wakeboard you will be diapointed with its wake i dont care how much weight you put in it. the 454 will go through gas like u cant imagine so think about that b4 u pull the trigger. if your into wakeboarding i think you should look into a different boat if you foot this is the boat you want no doubt. DAM that tower ugly what were they thinking.

Boatech; why should he be looking for another boat when wakeboarding? This boat throws an excellent wake, even unweighted this wake is fun at 23mph!

It's the end of the season, so there will be more boats around. But it seems like a pretty good deal. If everything is solid, it would be a good deal.

yeah, I am going to totally disagree with Boatech on the wake. I had this boat with 351 in it for 5 years, and it has an AWESOME wake. I sold mine last year for $17000. 600 hours, small block, better tower, no stereo. I think $13k if it is in good shape is a pretty ripping deal.

I agree, that price is very reasonable, I paid around that 1 1/2 ago for an Excel 351. Weighted well this boat throws a very nice wake. Get it and loose the tower and decals.

WakeSlayer and Rchanded: What kind of ballast setup were you running in this boat to get the best wake? Right now the only weight is the sound system in the bow and four batteries in the back.....oh and that clump of metal towering 7 feet over the front of the boat.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a tower that looks pretty good on this boat? I saw a newdiminsion flight control style on a '91 but I was trying to avoid spending $2500 on a tower just to approve the esthetics. Do you think it would be possible to take this one to a welding shop and have them cut some height out of it....or is this one just a lost cause?

I think great price. The 454 scares the gas out of me. But no experience with that motor.

in my 351 version I ran a 560# fat sac on each side of the motor, and 280# in the bow. I had a Wake Designs tower on mine, rock solid and looked great, but it was several years ago so you wouldn't get that one anymore, obviously. I have a friend who took the tower off his 2000 Pro Air, maybe he would sell that. It is just sitting in my shop.
I loved the wake behind my Super Bare Nautique. I had a difficult time letting that one go as it was such a great boat.

Is it the two piece flight control or the boxy one piece that looks like the offspring of the one that's on this boat? If you have pictures of it, I'd love to see them. I'm not sure how the shipping would work getting it from MN to Tx....???

It is the two piece, flip down one. Unlike the "boxy offspring" that I have on my boat. HAHAHAHA that was funny.
I will try and get a pic to you if he wants to sell it.
