Crossover 216 or 211 better for slalom?

Owing to the lighter weight, shorter beam and engine placement I would expect the 216 to have a better slalom wake than the 211. However, I note that the 211 is a water ski approved towboat and the 216 is not. So is the 211 in fact better for slalom?

    Has any slalomed behind both?

No trouble. Haven't skied the 216, but I did try the 211. It was good enough for me and we decided to buy one. Mind you I only ski the course at 15 off @ 30-32 MPH. I tried 22 off and it was brutal. I'm buying it mainly as a WB boat (85% of the time).

I have a 211 and two friends with 216's. They hate skiing behind my boat, I hate boarding behind their boats. For slalom the 216 wins hands down, the rest is marketing.

Many thanks. I think the 211 is not suitable for me. It's now betweena 206 or 216. It will be my first boat and I feel lucky to be able to make such a decision! I guess I need to wiegh up my priorities in terms of space and wakeboard wake v slalom wake.

I'm biased towards my 206 and am not sure how much usable space you get extra with the 216. Plus the 216 doesn't offer the extended tournament seat so you'll need a jump seat in order to have more than 2 observers behind the windshield.

I spent yesterday afternoon driving both a 206 and a 216 to decide between them.

I thought long and hard about the "perfect" next boat and came to the conclusion that there is none. Every boat style compromises something, storage space, people space, wake for slalom, wake for wakeboarding / surfing, usability for things other than skiing, looks / styling etc. I want to get a boat that will lay down a nice ski wake (15 - 22 off at 32 / 34 MPH), accommodate some boarding and family activities like tubing and the trips to the local lake establishments.

I really love the look and feel of the 206 however it is smallish for family use.

The 216 uses the same hull design as the 206 only a foot longer which makes the wake similar.

The 216 has extra space is in the bow (seating) and it also provides much more room in the stern locker (pretty much non existent in the 206).

Both boats I drove were TE's which means that the sub woofer takes over the space under the observer seat Overall, I like the way the 206 drives a little better (like a 196) but the 216 is a more practical boat for my family.
