    Ski Nautiques and Show Skiing

This is a topic on another discussion forum.

Why are not more Ski Nautiques used in show skiing?

I think you will find Correct Craft is represented in show skiing at a level that reflects its market share.
Off the top of my head:
    Little Crow
    Muskego Water Bugs
    Badwater Ski-Ters
    Three Lakes Aqua Devils
    Chain Skimmers

Everything depends upon a show club having a good relationship with the local dealer. Some support show skiing as a viable way to promote their business, others, in my opinion incorrectly, do not.

Whatever inboard a show ski club uses, it is always going to be secondary to the twin or triple rig outboard for pulling big acts. Nothing makes up for props in the water.

I think all the boats go around the same price but i bolive everything depends on what you prefer i think when you go an buy a boat if it is a MC $55.0000 and the MALB $ 48.000 and the CORRECT C IS $ 60.000 and if going to F&I you already in so just buy what you like the most. but is very hard to chose CORRECT C when you see MC and MALIBU and all the tounaments. but for me CORRECT C have better quality on there boats

Ski-224, if you are talking AWSA tournaments, I haven't seen a 196 listed for anything close to $60,000. The promo 196's are in the mid to high $30,000's. The promo MC 197 on our lake is priced at $48,000. The RLXi, depending upon options, is priced about the same as the 196. Also, what tournaments are you talking about? In our region, a 196 is at every class C tournament.

I've been involved in show skiing for the last 10 years. One of the main reasons for not seeing a lot of Correct Crafts or any other ski boat is because of the shear horsepower that is required to pull some of the larger acts like; the pyramids, ballet lines, and group barefoot. The most common boat you'll find are the old Hydrdyne boats. The 19' Hydrodyne can handle 3 300hp engines, and have seen set ups with 4 engines. Other factors are the cost for a ski boat, sponsorships, and the fact that most ski boats these days are filled with a lot of bling that serves no function in a ski show boat and will only get damaged by every day use. Ski boats are perfect for some of the acts like jump, barefoot, and 360 around the boat. If a team is limited in budget the most versatile boat is the Hydrodyne.

Just an FYI, the Pewaukee Lake Water Ski Show Club has run a 1993 Ski Nautique since 1996 (bought it used). It now has 1400 hours on it, is driven hard and put away wet, and still pulls like it did the day we got it.

I am a memeber of "Little Crow" we purchase 4 new Nautiques every year for our club. 3 206's and 1 196. We sell the boats at the end of the ski season every year. the club takes great care of them and does a great job of detailing them before they are sold ( I know this because I just bought one) everyone on our club really loves these boats. We have a great program with Nautique and with our local dealer. there's getting to be more and more Nautigues around here. The Waterhawks from Iowa use a couple Nautigues also.

                    JAG, I think the OP is comparing inboards-to-inboards, complimenting a team's O/Bs.

It pretty much comes down to dealer support.

                      mdsankey,

Little Crow is always a great team to watch at Nationals, IIRC you guy's always do some great barefoot acts including Barefoot pyramids.

Nice to see teams using Nautiques, of the Midwest D1 teams out there there are very few using CC's, lot's of Bu's and some MC's.
