    Mid 90's "Cross over" ?

My friend is starting to see the light in regards to Inboards and I/O's. He asked me how long they've been making cross over models, my 86 sn without the back seat doesn't fit his plan. my reply was that a Sport Nautique from the 90's might fit the bill. Here are some criteria.
    -high freeboard
    -bow rider
    -half decent slalom wake
    - $15 - 20k
my attention has been more directed to slalom boats in the past so i was not able to give him a educated opinion. were there any engine options, transmisions or years that were better from one model to the other? the Canadian dollar is now worth 1.03 (Ha Ha) American, so now would be a good time to buy.

    RE: Mid 90

I would say a sport is a good option for him, either that or the open bow ski, if he doesnt ming the crawl over winshield that is.

I had one and have to recommend it. 94 Sport. Has a really good slalom wake and with depending on the weight you will get a great WB wake (94 has same hull/wetted surface as the old SAN 210).

as far as i can see the 98 sport and the 93 sport share the same hull?

my gf has a 98 and i have a93 and ill be darned if i can see anything different on the two?

I know that the 98 has the trunk and all that weight back their i would say makes for a bit bigger of a wake but they even drive the same.

          some one prove me wrong?

The 98 and up are on the TSC 1 hull, you should be able to see a little difference somewhere on the wetted surface, but I cant tell you where the differences are. I'm sure someone on here could. It would be nice if we had a hull breakdown on what year, and what the changes were to different models.

i've got a 98 sport and think the wake is pretty darn good for both.for skiing it's great, for wakebrdg.its pretty good ,espicially if you fill the tanks.i'm sure all of the nineties boat(mine included) don't compare to the new 50k and up boats, but for me who will never be a pro i still have plenty of fun,and get plenty of air to put a grin on the face.good luck, you can't go wrong with any nautique

i looked at the brochure for the 98 Sport and it makes no mention of changes to hull etc.

mid 90's would mean 93-97 ish. I'd throw out the 91, 92 & 98, 99. Mid 90's (94-97)Sport Nautique had the same hull as the Super Sport that came on line in 98 & 210SAN until last year. It is my understanding that the 93 is differant and 98 is differant.

That said the 94-97 Sports will have a better then decent slalom wake (easily skied to 28 off @ 36) and a world class wakeboard wake with enough weight. It is an excellent first boat for your friend in my humble opion. I still miss mine.
