Crossover vs. Air - 226 TE vs. 220

    Hi there

First i have to tell you that i'm absolutly new in boats and english is not my main language ;-). But before i want to travel to the diffrent dealer and brands, i just want to know as much as possible ;-).

i see a lot of used 226 or Crossover Versions. Why do you prefere them - for example 2003 226 vs. 220. On the pictures, i cant see any advantage on the crossover seating, for me the traditional "wrap araound" looks more practical. I call them the "chill factor". I never considered a Crossover but at the moment a used 2003 226 TE (Tower, Balast, Sound, Bimini, Heater....) is available for about 54k $ - 130h - which does not look to bad in our country (Switzerland - everything is a little bit more expensive).

I also look at the usual other brands like Supra, Moomba, Malibu, MC. But MC, CC and Malibu looks like the most used in our aerea. Main use will be - Wakeboarding, Watherski and some Chilling on the lake. I like to have a good wake, but we are all beginners.

    Cheers, KTM525

oh, and another question. Does Correct Craft has a "history" Page - where i can find information about the older models - how they look like etc.

      KTM,

I think your question is a bit confusing. Crossover is not a reference to the seating configuration. Rather, it is a reference to a boat whose capabilities crossover between the various elements of the sport. For example, a boat that is a strong ski boat, but also a strong wakeboard boat. Or perhaps a boat that is a strong wakeboard boat and also a strong wakesurf boat.

As to the seating configurations, I think it's all a matter of personal taste. Some like the seating, some don't. I believe the intent of the new seating configurations is to enable as many of the passengers as possible to face backward so they may observe the riders in action.

If you go to the site correctcraftfan.com, and click on the reference section, you will find most of Correct Craft's sales brochures from about 1960 through 2005.

        Hi bkhallpass,

thanks a lot for the corectcraftfan.com hint! Thats cool!

What i missing at the crossover seating is the "missing seat in the edge" ;-). I just cant see any advantage, maybe i have do check it out at a dealer to understand.

        Cheers, KTM

Ok, you are referring to the walk through on the transom. I too thought this was funky when I first saw it.
I didn't like the looks, and I didn't like the idea. However, when I had a chance to spend my first day on
an SV211, I became a fan. It's just nice to be able to get in and out of the boat without trampling the upholstery, splashing water all over the other passengers, etc. The storage area under the walkthrough is also really convenient, particularly for storing your wet gear. In the end, buy what what you like, but if you are really considering both boats, I'd spend a day in one of the boats with the walk through transom before you make your decision. BKH
