    Tower vs. Extended Pylon

I was wondering if there were any advantages of having a tower rather than an extended pylon. If so what are the advantages and disadvantages of each option. I am looking into buying a Martinique that doesn't have the factory pylon installed. I will be using the boat mainly for wakeboarding so I don't need the pylon for skiing, I couldn't use the pylon anyway because I really need the use of the backseat. So my question is with cost being a factor do you think I should install the pylon and then install the extended pylon or just spend the extra money for the tower? Also does anyone know where I could find a new or used pylon that will fit a Martinique and about how much it will cost? Thanks, James.

    RE: Tower vs. Extended Pylon

i use a pylon. its fine. eventually i may put on a tower. it would make it seem a little bigger inside and look great. getting boards out of the i nterior.i have a 4board rack and speakers on mine. with the bimini on there isnt much difference. cause all the stuff is above the bimini. the new dimention towers look great. and personally wouldnt put anything else on a nautique.

i used to have an extended pylon. it was great, except that i had to take it down each night. when i got my new boat, i got it with a tower (super air) and i would never go back to the pylon. the tower has no give, the plyon would bend when people cut hard. the tower also makes it seem alot bigger and i do not have to take it down each night. it also frees up alot of room on the inside of the boat, since i have board racks on the tower. IMO, go for the tower, more expensive but so worth it

        RE: Tower vs. Extended Pylon

Thanks, for everyone's opinions. Depending on the opinions on this tower I may consider going with the tower. The tower I was looking at is $900 shipped so I might get that because it is only a few hundred more than adding a pylon and then getting an extended pylon. So I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these towers and what you thought of them? Even if you have no experience with the tower I would still like to hear your opinion on the tower. Here is the website http://www.bigairpylons.com/Tower.htm Also I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Joystick roll cage and how much it costs. I am looking for the cheapest quality tower that I can buy but I don't want to go over $1400. I also want a tower that will look good on the Martinique. Does anyone know what type of tower is on this boat. Thanks, James.

Thanks for the input, it's a tough decision and there are a lot of options to consider. But I probably won't be buying a tower until the spring so I have some time to decide. I like the Monster tower because I've heard great things. Does anyone know of the quality of Trick Towers, they build custom towers for only $1350? Here is the link.

Thanks for the replies. Regarding the Monster tower I do agree that there are better looking towers even though they do look pretty good on Martinques. Well I am not buying a tower until spring so I will start considering my options. However price is a huge factor so I am considering trying the tower from Big Air Pylons because it is so cheap. Well either way whatever I decide to get I will give you guys feedback after I try it out. James.
