Looking to do the normal sound improves this winter. Being the battery box is not big enough for a second battery, has anyone installed a Switch and second battary in their 216. I could put it in the front like the old sports, but I finally have a place for the anchor. I was thinking the ski locker maybe. We all know you can't get a ski in there. Any suggestions. Pictures would be helpful.

I asked the same question some time ago and as I recall someone had recommended a gel battery in the bow storage locker in front of the driver.

Are we discussing a passive system where the second battery is switched on when/if the first battery is dead or an active system where both batteries are used to power the electronics?06 Air 216 TEComment

looking for a back up battery. Switching between the 2 on different days. I don't have a system that requires a whole lot of load. I did this by design. I will more then like put in a battery switch, 3 position, so if I had a need to parallel the 2 I could. I only have 3 AMP, 2 JL 300/4 and 1 500/1 Sub. I'm not much into big bass, so I don't have much draw. These amps are the most efficant I could find. I guess I don't see the need for a Isolator or cap in the system. I will try to sketch the system soon. Still trying to come up with a plan.Comment

I found room under the dash. Thinking of making a trap door to get it in and out. I don't have a heater, so I have the room. Many only concern is all the wiring and cables.Comment

I added a second battery to my 2003 210 when I had it. I really liked that setup. I got an Optima blue top, which can be mounted in any position, and mounted it under the rear bench seat in the spot directly behind the driver. The stock battery was on the other side of the rear bench. Since there was no cutout in the floor for the second battery, I had to lay the battery on its side. With Optimas, that's fine. I added a Hellroaring battery isolator/combiner. Everything worked perfectly. Thanks Jeff. Not sure I completely understand the purpose or if I need an isolator. Not sure I understand how to wire it in either. I have been using Kenetic Power cells for batteries simalar to an Optima except 1.578% percent x stronger. I have the 2200 Amp battery. And if I remember correctly was good for 198 Amp hours. I just through 1 in the boat last year until the end of summer. I'm really just adding a second battery for peace of mind.
