    216 Battery box wiring

Here is the factory wiring in the 216. I feel it could use a little help. I plan to wire all to a terminal block and then one cable over to the battery. I have a couple ring terminal wires that are ready to come loose. Any other ideas.

Also for all those who are going to ask. The battery is the best I have owned. I'm going to get a second for somewhere in the boat.

    RE: 216 Battery box wiring

This is a joke?!? Is this factory install??! I thought our 1988-1997-2000-2002-2006 CC models where bad, but it's getting worse every year! CC could have a very, very clean system because the whole dash is digital, the EMU, the switch board with relays, etc. But I really don't know (or understand) how they are able to make such a mess with the wiring...

Yes that is the factory wiring. All I did was hook up the Blue and Red Amp wires. You are correct, it is different from all the others I've had. I think they wired the 216 all back to the battery box. I would have wired to the EMU and had 1 red HOT cable the battery and ground the other somewhere. JMO, but I'm in the electrical business so might have a bit of knowledge on the subject. If I going to put in a battery switch it is going to take some work.

Need help boatech. I'm going to put a second battery and switch in. Being you hook at all the hots to the switch it still leaves me with all the commons (black wires). Being I don't want to rewire all the commons back to where they bolt to the motor mount can I leave all the blacks tied to one battery and just run a new common from the motor mount to the new battery? Is there a chance of let through? I don't think it will hurt anything, but just wanted to make sure.

u should be fine with that common setup (unless u have a severely cracked block lol)

as for CC's wiring.......... i vote that planetnautique members take it upon ourselves to feed and house the poor blind bums that CC so graciously allows to oversee, install, and design these electrical systems.... this way, they can hire specially trained primates that will increase the quality by 500% cost of the special monkeys will not be an issue, because more than enough $$$ will be saved on the 50% decline in materials cost that is wasted on the outrageous amounts of extra copper........

            Somewhat finished

            Ok gang,

Here is the final results. I'm not completely pleased with it, but time is forcing a quick resolution. Here is what I have done.

Put in a battery Switch. Added a 2nd battery in the bow (not in yet). The wiring was a MESS. I was able to clean up the HOTS some, but I have to tie all the blacks together with a bolt and have a short lead to the battery in the battery box.

I wish CC would have tied all the control wiring back to the ECU box. The wiring is still a "Train Weck"X2

Pics attached, but let me know any suggestions?

I have a '03 216 and the wiring is better than your first pic but still not great. Can you share with me where you chose to mount the second battery and the Battery Switch?
