2000 Digital Gauges

Just wondering why the 2000 digital gauges were never recalled or warrantied? It seems like every boat with them has had problems. Just bought my second 2000 196, and you guessed it, the gauges are shot. It seems pretty common from what I am hearing and seeing. Just looking for some other experiences and solutions.

You could get the Faria analog gauage replacement kit or try to get your local dealer to replace your current ones for free. This is a known issue and ALOT of people have gotten free replacement gauges

I have an original set still if you are interested. These are "supposed" to be the newer version and should not cause any future problems.

The gauges were/are warrantied. I had 3 or 4 sets replaced for free. The problem is the new sets have the same problem as the old (sorry ffmedic from my experience, I don't believe they improved anything). They ran out of the black bezeled gauges a long time ago, and so mine were replaced with grey. Further, I was told
last week by West Coast Correct Craft that it is getting very hard to find the digital guages for replacement purposes. As discussed here many times, the best and most permanent fix is to replace witht he Faria gauges. BKH

Mine were last replaced in 2003 and are still good, but I purchased a spare set from ffmedic74 to buy me a few years when they finally do go out. I can't stand the look of the Faria replacements- they look like they belong on a Bayliner.

I just ordered the Faria replacement gauges yesterday from Midwest Correct Craft in Angola, IN. $145 plus shipping. Even when the digital gauges worked they were next to useless. Looking forward to going back to analog, especially since it uses the paddle wheel instead of the traditional pickups. Next fix is the non-functioning Smart Pod.

Anyone have pictures of the replacement gauges from faria? Do they match the exsisting temp, oil pressure gauges at all? Will the original bezels fit on the new gauges?

Download the pdf posted by wake_fun above. It has pictures. They come with the bezels. Mine are black. They match the other gauges well. Mine showed up 2 days after ordering from Midwest Correct Craft. Probably won't install them until spring. I just wanted to order them while they were still offering a discounted price with the PP splitter.

I replaced mine last week, took about 1 hr using the downloaded instructions off this site. Easy job
