1998 Super Sport (centre ski pole)

First time post, Planet Nautique has been a great use to me over the last couple of years on getting info. :o

Finally traded my 88 for a 1998 Super Sport, upgraded to a super air. As you can see from the picture I have a lot of cleaning to do over the next few months during the off season. I have a few upgrades in mind, but the one I really want to do is moving the centre ski pole back behind the rear seats (like on the 2000 Super Air's). Has anyone out there done this, or does anyone have a picture of where the bottom of the ski pole is seated?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :?:

Unscrewing the 3 u-joints on the bottom of the pole and you can remove it. I did it before, first take the bottom out for easier access. Then you can see the 3 u-joints. It's a 15min task. Very easy and it opens the space inside of the boat!
Never seen these colors before on a Nautique, very special! You'll like it moving from a '88 to this one. I did the exactly same.

I have a 1997 SS and the battery is mounted where you are wanting to put the pole. Ski pole was removed when I bought the boat and we don't ski anyway, so never missed it. You can tie a rope to back handle.

Thanks for your comments Laptom.

Batman- My battery is at the stbd side of the engine, I could attach a ski rope at the back of the boat, but I would rather have it on the ski pole behind the seats, like on the newer super air (2000 onwards i think). This is all to keep my girlfriend happy because she likes her skiing, and so do I occasionally.

Does anyone have a picture of how its done on the 2000 super air???

You can tie a rope to back handle.

I would strongly advise against that.

On the 1995-2001 Super Sport/Air you could tie a rope at the back of the boat. There is a towing point mounted. Do not attach to the grab handle!!
I never seen anybody install the centre pole on the back on a 1995-2000 SSN/SAN. I think you need a special bracket in front of your engine. I know you could install it afterwards on a 2000-2006 SSN/SAN.

My mistake, I guess I was referencing the pull point (tow knob) at the rear.

and how long has that been sitting in that same spot, thats a big investment to leave to sit there and rot

It was sitting there for a month, before that in the water for the season. The day I took this picture was the day I was taking it into dry storage. This weekends job is cleaning it.
