PlanetNautique Get-Together at Smith Mountain Lake in VA
how about joccassee and santeetlah, both are surrounded by national forest so traffic is minimal, clear water, and they are both deep lakes so they aren't really affected by the lack of rain we've been having around here.of course they are both pretty chilly until may or so since ther are both stream fed.

buying stuff i don\'t need to impress people i don\'t know with money i don\'t have
Orlando, Fl here - I would be interested in something around the North Carolina area - not sure about the lakes in the Charlotte area though
Im also in orlando, well i will be tomorrow, and would LOVE a CC reunion. I missed the ccfan reuion last year in New England, im from Massaschusetts on my way down to Orlando. Count me in
One last time to see if there is anymore interest in this. I'm going to start plotting everyone to see where is the best central location over the weekend.
Crads - you and I have exchanged some messages about boats, as well as this reunion. While I'm not a CC owner yet (but hopefully will be in the Spring), I wanted to throw out a possible option to you as you decide on a location. I have a weekend house on Lake Gaston which is on the NC/VA border. It is a constant level lake that is unaffected by the drought, and there are two CC dealers on the lake (one on the East end, the other on the West). Accommodations are a bit limited, but there are some hotels and campgrounds on the lake. We also have a fairly large population of CC boats, and some of the best boarding water in the Southeast. Adam Fields also has a fairly well-known wakeboarding school there and he may be interesting in doing something with the group. He put on a end-of-year get-together in September that was a big hit.
We have had good interest in all getting together this summer. I tried to pick a weekend when there were not a lot of other ski events going on. So here is the plan.
Date Aug 1,2 and 3rd
Location Smith Mountain Lake, VA (picked based on people interested in going there)
Now there are a couple of things for you to decide.
1. when you are coming?
2. Where you are going to stay.
I have picked a place to hold the event and spoken to the owner. It is called Westlake Waterfront. http://www.westlake-waterfront-inn.com/ you will see why I picked the place if you look through some event pics (hint there is Nautique in one of them, so seemed logical). The Inn has 24 rooms and they are 140 per night, but you have to book 2 nights. I didn't ask, so don't know if that means Friday and Saturday only or if that could mean Saturday and Sunday. They include a dock. There are 24 docks, so easy math. They also have a ramp and lots of parking on site. The reservations will be first come first serve. You can't book until Feb 1, so put on the calendar. All the rooms at this place have 2 queen beds, so you could share with other close CC owners. Now I hope for a large turn-out, but feel we will get about 20-25 boats and families, which would be great for a first event, so be a pioneer!!!
Ok you can't make it 2 nights or don't want to pay 140$ a night, there is a second option. According the owner of West Lake, this a good second choice. It is about 6 miles from his location where more restaurants are located. It is called Lake Inn. http://www.lakeinnmotel.com/ I didn't speak to this location, but heard they have plenty of safe parking. They are NOT on the lake. Westlake will be the meeting point, so as long as there are not to many people coming (so you will need to tell me) Ron said we could launch boats there. I will provide more details once we confirm more interest.
Now you are responsible for your own reservations and no rooms are blocked. You are also responsible for any cancellations policies.
As for food, there are restaurants about 6 miles away and several on the lake. The Inn itself does not have one, he said there is one about 5 mins by boat. Being Nautique owners are friendly, my guess is we will keep a local pizza place in business for the rest of the year. You'll figure out the food thing and if your like me skiing will come before eating anyway.
Here is my personal plan.
Get in Friday Aug 1 about 2. Ski until I can't hold the rope or it gets dark
Saturday Foot at 5:30AM until 10, do some kind of check in 10-1 and then ski again until I can't hold the rope. Hang out Saturday night and tell CC stories.
Sunday - foot in the morning and leave about 12 noon. Wife has to catch a plain, so I have to get back. (I know what you all thinking and I tried not to bring her, but she does own half the boat)
Now NO promises, but Jeff Nautique (who does have a real last name) along with myself are going to TRY to get a Pro- Something there. AGAIN NO PROMISES. Also No promises, but looks like a good chance, we will have free give a ways, mainly in the form of shirts and other CC items. There will be plenty of banners and flags to mark the location.
Not sure how to run this, we could do an equipment swap of some type. For example I'm looking for an 2001, 02, 03 CDX 66 long with RTP (Rear Toe Plate) and I have a prop to sell new in a box. You get the point.
2 last points.
1. This is not affiliated with anything or anyone. You are at your own risk. Another words, you are taking a personal vacation and just happen to show up where there a bunch of other Nautiques.
2. CC meant their boats to be used for skiing and building stronger family relationships. THIS IS A FAMILY EVENT. People are going to have a good time partying, but remember there might be little ears around. Be nice to the people around you!!!!! West Lake does have quiet hours. Just remember if you ski your butt off, we should all be to tired to make trouble. JMO.
Finally - We are going to need to communicate better then posting. So if you interested in going, PM me with your email. I will then create an email distribution list for the people who are interested in going. If you decide you want off the list, just email me directly and I will remove you SIMPLE. If anyone has other ideas, PM me.
We have 2 families already.
Jeff and Myself. Who is next.
Thanks to PN for providing a fourm to make this happen!!
I just got my boat back from Midwest CC and told the guys there that instead of the normal place in Sandusky to do something at Lake Norris. This is the same lake that No Wake Marine has the Malibu reunion. I vote Lake Norris at Shanghai or Sequoya. I know the Malibu reunion is always at Shanghai and they cater to the crowd very well. PM me if you want some help putting it on etc. We are now at Lake Cumberland, but have been to Lake Norris 100 times or so.
