Brake actuator on 2000 Ramlin trailer

I have a 1998 SS on a single-axle 2000 Ramlin trailer with brakes. I back my boat/trailer into my garage for storage. Sometimes it is easy to unlatch the trailer tongue from the ball, and sometimes it takes me forever to get it unlatched. I pull the trailer forward, try it, reverse it, try it... over and over until I finally can get it unlatched.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the trailer, tongue, actuator, or brakes - I think I just don't know "the trick". What do you do to get it to unlatch on the first try?

On my old ('93 Sport with factory(?) trailer, it is sometimes difficult also. I usually get it into position in the garage and block the wheels with chocks. Then I start to crank the jack until some of the pressure is off the tongue. I put my truck in neutral and let the chocks take the weight off the ball. With the truck back in park and the weight relieved, the latch releases pretty easily. Hope this helps.

when you are done backing up, put a block or piece of wood in front of the tires and then pull forward to loosen the pressure of the brakes and you should have no problem.
      Hope this helps!

you may want to check the latch to see if it adjusted too tight for a 2" ball, you may want to adjust it only a couple of threads.

I have a 2001 ramlin trailer. You can just take off the safety chains and put the ends into the actuator. It will prevent the actuator from sliding foward and make it easy to come off.
