I received an e-mail on 12/4 indicating they were having a big sale. I went by today to see if they had anything I "needed". There was a sign on the door saying Closed because of bad economy thanks for the past 20 years. This was the Petaluma, CA store. I stopped in Cordilla and they are still open and said that Petaluma was a different owner.

That is a bummer that Hammer's closed. I bought my boat there and was always treated with the utmost respect. The great part about them was even after 10 years they'd still remember you and it was pretty much the same "crew." I was thought both the Hammer's locations were the same owner, maybe they split them up for "other reasons." But, I am sad to hear they are gone, Jim, Howie and the rest of the guys were always the best! The Petaluma store was in a tough location and when In n Out opened up next to it, it was only harder to get into. The FF (Cordilla) location is a much better spot on the way to Tahoe and close to Berryessa.

I stop in there all the time and they are good guys. I am not sure what the connection was with the other store but it is the same guys. I went there the day the other store closed and they new it was coming but seemed surprised that it had happened. Before I bought my CC I thought the CC service centers (West Coast CC) and distribution was just an added cost but I am glad they are there now.
