First Nautique and first post on PN.

    Hello!

My name is scoke and i just purchased my first new to me Nautique. It's a 2002, 196 Closed bow with the PCM GT-40.

I have been reading this site and CCF for about 2 months now. The search function works wonders to all my questions I had. I am also a regular reader/contributor on www.thewaterskiforum.com and recognize quite a few posters over here.

I previously owned a 1999 MC and a 2002 MC as well. Loved them but this CC is something else.

We ran the boat saturday but didn't pull a skier. That thing runs like a freight train! we can't wait to get it wet behind the boat. I have lots of questions in due time of course.

let's see if these pics post. the pics are tiny but cut n paste to the originals i guess.

Hi Scoke! I, too, took the plunge in the last couple of months. I loved the 93 205, but the 98 SN is really something. Congratulations on your new purchase!

Scoke, I always read your posts on TWSF with interest. Welcome to this site. Nice to have another closed bow owner/skier over here.

              BTW, very nice boat!

Thx for the compliments. TWSF is a great site and there are tons of people who read it and never posts as well. Water ski community as well as the CC (and other boating communities) are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet! MS-I love gear!

First question: on my setup does the Boat's standard gauges have a thermometer attached to it as it only reads the hour meter and I don't know if it can toggle through it somehow. (just dawned on me, I haven't read the manual :o )

East TX skier showed me photobucket for hosting, so I have to test it out here....

A depth gauge was standerd on the LE but not the SE. The thermometer is built into the depth gauge.

That's the first 2002 I've ever seen without a keypad. I had no idea you could get one without at the time.

Your Nautique guages don't have a thermometer but there is one in the Perfect Pass. I believe its menu and up pushed together. it in the manual There is also an hour meter to see if they match.

The Perfect Pass may have a thermometer option but I believe it it requires some sort of add on piece of hardware.

There is a water temp gauge in Perfect Pass. Menu + ^ sounds right, but in 6.5 ng, you have to menu down to get to the temp settings. I don't think there's any air temp setting. But Scoke's in South Louisiana, so by and large, it's hot and hotter. As for hardware, the water temperature is read through the paddle wheel speedometer. So assuming he's got that installed, it ought to work.

Nice 196, hard to find a better ski boat. The GT 40 is a pulling machine, you'll enjoy it for many years to come.

That looks like a late 2002 where CC started moving toward Faria gauges. My buddy has the same vintage boat sans the GT-40. Scoke, that's probably one of the last 196's equipped with the GT-40.
