i have 1991 SN where the rear seat is removable , im just curious if anyone has tried using one of those Fat Seats for a bigger wake....got my dad into surfing now he wants it bigger...wondering if they work as a reasonable seat still or is it just a gimmick

RE: 1991 SN CC Fat Seat
I had one. It will work, but the weight will be evenly spread in the back. It won't produce a monster wake, but it will be pretty good size. I no longer use mine. I had a transmission that needed rebuilt and it certainly did not help things.Eric Fox

RE: 1991 SN CC Fat Seat
It does work for seating, but it will cover the whole floor to the back of the engine cover...so no leg room there. It is also not extremely comfortable to sit on. It is like trying to sit on a waterbed while someone jumps on it. If you are out on a lake most of the day with a group of people, this is probably not the boat or weight solution that will make you happiest. However, if you're like me, where you have length restrictions on a small lake, but you have a dock for the crowd to gather, perhaps it won't be bad. The other thing you will need to be careful of, is stopping. With the boat this low in back and the Euro transom, the wake will quickly and easily wash over the transom.
If I were going to do it over, I would have looked at a couple of Fat Buddies. They were a little smaller and more easily located where you want the weight. I think this boat likes weight right along the clamshell. Personally, I put 200# of lead under the back seat and 100# under the bow. I focus mainly on slidy and spinny tricks rather than flippy ones, so this works for me with my limited crew and ride time. There isn't anything I can't do behind my boat (with no weight even) that I can do behind a fully weighted X2 or VTX (friends have 1 each). Bigger more floaty air is about it, but it's still just wake to wake without a spin or something.Eric Fox
