TR, my technical background is not that elaborate, nor is my technical english...
Could you please explain to me what you mean by 'improving the breathing" of the engine, and how to do that...?

BTW, as soon as the weather improves here, and the harbor reopens, I'll start testing the difference between the 3 blade prop that is on the shaft now and the ACME 470 that came with the boat...

    Thanks in advance,
    The Belgian...

Kristof, the internal combustion engine is simply a large air pump. The better you can get air in, and then back out of the engine, the more efficient and powerful it is. On the intake side, you have the carburetor, intake manifold, and heads. On the exhaust side you have the heads (again) and the exhaust manifolds. The cam also plays a large part, as it controls both the intake and exhaust valves and how much air they let into and out of the combustion chambers. Replacing the restrictive stock pieces with aftermarket parts that flow better will net a gain in power.

The biggest "bang-for-your-buck" would be a nicely matched combination of an aftermarket intake manifold, heads, and camshaft. This upgrade can be done for relatively little money, and can add 80hp to the 351w without much trouble.

Now that's what I call "explaining it to me like a 6 year old"!
Thanks TR. I'll bring in the help of a friend at our club who has started as mechanic at the local boat dealer... He will know what to do.
