Question for all of you...

I had a Ski Nautique 2001, lets call it an 82-7, that on the transom, the hull number ended in 81. Although, prior to the 82 hull, that style ski nautique ran from 72ish I think to 81? Am I correct on that. Now that said, my boat was registered as an 81. I never thought twice about it until I posted something on a CCfan forum about a guy re-painting his hull and I loaded a before and after shot of my old vessel. The post had now got more feedback in 3 hours than it has in 2 months. Im only stating what the hull had on it as well as my registration papers..... Should I have kept the boat as "the first 2001 series" or maybe sold it for twice that I did?????

So what do you all think??? is there someone out there with knowledge that in fact they released the 2001 hull in late 81 or something, with hull numbers ending in 81 which would then classify the boat as an 81????? Or did I have a boat that never existed.....

I have 94 on my hull because is was built in 1994, but it's a 1995 model.

the boat is a 82, so what if it was built in the fall of 81 it's still a 1982 hull and a 1982 model ski nautqie even if it was regestered wrong at some point in time in it's life.

Also thinking that you had the first 2001 hull in 81 is reaching a bit, might have been but the only way to know it for sure is to get the info from the factory as I'm sure there are alot more 1982 SKI Nautique 2001's with a HIN that ends in 81

On your paper work, is it registered as a 94 or a 95? The point I was arguing on CCfan was that I had a model 2001, 1982 hull style, that was registered as an 81 according to the FL paper work. And for some reason, according to a member ( and use that term as you wish) that is just impossible and it doesnt matter what it says, it an 82. So year model 82 yes, absolutely yes it was... but non the less, Fl registration and my insurance claims it was infact titled in FL as an 81.... I bought it as an 81 and sold it as an 81. However it was not a model 81. That was my point.

it's the factory that detereminds what model year it is not the State of Florida or any other state for that matter.

I think tiqueman is all cleared up, but Ill post the same thing here that I did on CCFan.

The HIN convention changed in 1984. Older HINs ended in the certification date, which presumably is the year that the manufacturer certified the hull. The 2001 (82-89) hull surely would have been certified in 1981, since that is when production started. That would lead me to believe that all 1982-1983 2001's have a HIN ending in 81.

Boats built in 1984 and later use the convention where the last 2 digits of the HIN refer to the model year, not the certification year or the year it was built.

I have seen and heard of many cases where titles or registrations incorrectly list information, including the model year. Remember that those forms are filled out by individual owners and checked by DMV workers. Its not a foolproof process.

Correct Craft would be able to give you more information about a particular boat if you provide them with the HIN. If its not apparently obvious, they would be able to tell you the model year based on the serial number.

Again, I was only stating that FLs paper work on the boat considers it an 81. I purchaed it with paperwork/ title stating it was an 81 and sold it that way as well. So, bobchris, call up the fl registration, Im sure there is an 800 number out there for you, and tell them they have messed up and you know about it. There is a registered 81 outt here that is an 82. ****, let me know when you call, we can conference and I will back you on it.

Oh and, I though you were to good for this site. We dont get together and hang out. We are all just a bunch of people who dream of having friends, let alone a nautique to hang out with them in. Thats why its planet nautique... we are all inanother world only wishing to have a boat and at least one friend.

I wrote this wrong........it says J495 at the end of my hull #. It was built in 1994 as a 1995 model.

My 83 Ski - 2001 hull ended with an 83. CTC145880383. Sorry thought that I would stir the pot.

boy you are a little slow there tigue boy, point is just because it's regestered wrong doesn't mean sqwat.

Since it was a 81 you should have ordered an 81 cover that would have fit real nice on a 82 boat.

Point is the State of FL or any other state does not determind what year model a manufacturer makes, just that they are regestering it that way doesn't mean ****. There are 100's of regestration in the U.S. that are not correct but it doesn't matter, the only thing it effects is that you might pay less excise tax. There are dozens of things that can cause a boat to be regestered wrong.

but the fact of the matter is the state or government agency does not determind the actuall model year a manufacturer uses, they only decide what year they want to regester it as and that is not going to turn a 1982 ski nautique 2001 in to a 1981 ski nautique no matter how tight you squeeze your cheeks to s hit it out of your ace.

ALL my previous boats and ny current one have a VIN number from the previous year. Example i have a 08 210 te will the new graphics, zero off, interior layout etc. It was delivered in oct 07 for the Australian summer. These boats are the first boats built of the 'new' year, no big deal
