Thanks for the info, I might look into lead for the front. Can't wait to start trying, hard to surf with ice on the lake...

You won't want that much weight in the rear of a 16+ G for surfing. For wakeboarding that would probably be a perfect setup, but not surfing. You'll have a short, super steep and washed out wave. With 1000 in the bow (under seats won't fit nearly that much), you would probably want about 1000lbs in the rear, total. Even at that point, you might have the NSS buried too much to work well. Best bet might be to stick with the 1000lb bags, and list the boat, if you want to really slam it.

I did a very comprehensive volume calculation on my G23, to see how much weight was possible under the front seats, including the area up into the gunwales behind the cupholders, etc.. Even with excluding the entire area that the recessed cupholder/speaker trim takes up, the best that a G23 could get is 550ish pounds for the entire bow under the seats. I know the G25 has a slightly longer bow, so you might get 650. That said, my calculations excluded the area taken by the cupholder/speaker, so it would be less.

If you do bags that just sit on the floor in the front compartments, and don't tuck up into the gunwales, the best you will get is probably about 350-400lbs in a G25.

Thru-hull pick ups and shut off ball valves were ordered from Nautiqueparts.com and are the same ones used by the factory.

Just wondering what motor you have been running with your G23 weighted right up?

started a topic G25 extra ballast

    G25 extra ballast

    Hello,
I just purchsed a 2016 G25 and as it it my 3rd Nautique thought it was time to join this forum.

My question is about additional ballast on top of stock. On my old 230 I would have it so sacked out and leaning that the water would leak into the engine vent if I turned too quickly but the wake was awesome, half of my family is regular and the other half is goofy and I got sick of switching bags all day. Is there anyone here who has had experience really weighing down a G25? If so is there such thing as too much and how did you weigh it? I have the 550 with the 2:1 ratio so power should not be a problem.

Any info would sure be appreciated.
Working...
