      Hey gang!

Back here for a spring update. I just received some more shot bags from Leadwake and they're going in this Friday. Here's my plan, which is subject to change once we get out on the water and see how it looks:

      - Port side: 10 bags total (500 pounds)

      - Starboard side 7 bags total (350 pounds)

So I'll have added a total of 850 pounds to the stock ballast + Pro which is 2100 pounds.

I also just bought a knockoff GoPro so I can finally get some decent video of the wakes. I'm going to just run up to surf speed with nobody surfing and get video of it at NSS 0, NSS 3 and NSS 5 on each side. Should have that posted here early next week.

      -Charles

Will be interested in the NSS at those variables without someone surfing to find out what you discover

charlesml3 , will you add any of the bags in the very front under the backrest? Do you already have extra weight in the bow?

Right now, I have no extra weight in the bow. There are 5 bags each side under the Pro Ballast bags. The rest are under the seats on each side.

              Hey Charlesml3,
Did you manage to keep the storage bins in the bag even with adding the lead bags beneath full pro ballast bags? Just wondering what space looks like with that set up.

              Cheers,

Yep, I still have the storage bins. This is the advantage of using shot bags. They just don't take up nearly as much room. The weather simply has not cooperated here lately so I haven't even put the boat on the water the last couple of weekends. I'm hoping we can get on the lake this weekend. If so, I'll get some videos of just the wake without anyone surfing so you can see.

I have standard ballast tanks on my 2009. What is the pro ballast bags and capacity.

The Pro Ballast option adds a 400 pound sack in each locker. Brings the total factory ballast up to 2100 pounds on the 230.

And the video is here! I finally got the footage and the voiceover done: https://vimeo.com/273241258

This was with the ballast setup as described above. Speed was 11.2 mph and the Hydrogate was set to 2 the entire time. 5 adults on the boat

Charles I thought the hydrogate was new for the 230 2018 models. Were you using a different 230 for video?

No, the Hydrogate has been on SV-211s and 2x0s for years. The only thing that changed in 2018 was how it's controlled. Up until 2018, it was a manual lever behind the throttle. Starting in 2018, it's on an electric actuator.

I just purchased a 2017 SAN 230 with pro ballast and upgraded the rear ballast bags to wakemakers exact fit 650's. I also have a 500 pound bag under the front seats, however, I haven't found that I need to use it because my crew is normally limited to 3 in the boat with 1 surfing. With everything filled I'm at 3100 pounds of ballast. I'm toying with the idea of buying 500 pounds of lead to put in the back under the wakemakers 650's. Will the extra 500 pounds make a huge difference of should I just stick with what I have? Thanks.
