    2007-2013 210 surf setup

I think the hauls on the 210 are the same from 07-13???, I just bought an 09. I have searched for a thread on ballast setup for surf but have a question.

What are you doing for ballast on these hauls when using a suck gate for surf? Is it best to pull hard tanks and replace with bags and add a bow bag under front seats? What size bags are you putting in the rear if pulling hard tanks? Is there a difinative thread out there addressing this? If so can someone point me to it?

    Thanks in advance!

I have an 08 210. My boat has NSS. If you’re planning on surfing, Pull the hard tanks. Put 1100’s in the rear. When you do that you’ll need the piggy back sac to put in the center locker and about another 350-400 lbs of lead in the bow .

search my name and I do a step by step and have couple surf setups .

Swat, I had read your post and step by step, very informative. I have seen some discussion back and forth about 1100 vs 750.....trying to decide which is best to go with.

i had a 2008 210, and i think the 1100s are best. however, i didn't bother to piggy back. it seemed to be too much trouble relative to how little it filled. i went with a 650 center locker sac that i put under the love seat, cause it was before the suck gates came out.

these days i would obviously get a suck gate, but i still would not piggy back, i would just put the 650 in the walkway as you can move it forward/back exactly where you want it and skip the lead.

and it was great to add weight in the bow with the center locker sac on the floor all the way forward, and have the 1100s empty when i had a guy or two that wanted to ski. the weight in the bow, with nothing in the back smoothed out the wake really well.

Piggy back 300s in each rear locker add the arrow shape bag in the front piggybacked to the belly tank. By piggybacking the bags the gauges will still work you just have to push the fill button twice. Add a suck gate set the speed at 10 mph and you are in business

Nautiquehunter's post reminded me of something that I forgot. There is a trade off. If you pull the tanks and put in bags your gauges will obviously not work. If it bothers you to not have working gauges this may be a problem for you. We found with the 210 on stock ballast only that we were running full ballast anyway so we did not really use the gauges, as we were filling until over flowing anyway. (And when you piggy back the gauge is gonna read full).

As a guy that does his own boat maintenance, I found that when the tanks were gone you could jump in on either side of the engine and change the plugs, reach around front of motor, change oil pressure sensor, or whatever else so much easier.

Also as is noted below you really start measuring how much water you have with "button presses". You know that one button press is stock ballast. And then you kind of decide based on number of riders and surfing or wake-boarding, and how big you want the wake if you want another 1/2 button press or minute or minute and half extra.

A bit of subject change but the 210 and 230 as surfing machines are IMHO highly underrated. The 210 and 230 waves for surfing are clean, and pretty long...

I echo Scott. I do all my own maintenance . I also tow some long distances and have 2 kids who surf and wakeboard so we have a total of 4 wakeboards and 3 surfboards we need to take with us everywhere. I couldnt carry or store all that in my boat with the tanks still in. We fill by button presses. Its pretty easy to gauge that way. The tanks are so small I dont know anyone who would ride and need to keep them 1/4 , 1/2, 3/4 full. The amount of difference in the wake is almost almost negligible there , usually the tanks are either full or empty. So the button press for us is sufficient and a much better gauge on weight.

Ive always toyed with the idea of demolishing the center tank and throwing a much bigger sac under there . I feel if that tank was gone you could get way more weight in there hidden.

2009 210...i have 550s piggy backed in the rear and a 300 piggy backed in the ski locker. That all full with a mission delta stuck to the side does great. I run at ~11mph

Are you guys putting the suckgate as far down and back as it will go?

I agree with Swatguys set-up. Pull those hard tanks and never look back. If somebody needs a pair from an 08 210, let me know. I just can't bring myself to throw them away...

I am curious as well. I usually put my nauticurl as far back and low as possible and get a really nice wave but curious if there is a better position
