    Surf set up

I am new to surfing and have started to get my 2004 SANTE 210 set up for surfing.

I am starting to try and figure out what board to get. I know I don’t have the wave for most boards, but I don’t want to buy a board to only realize I can’t have fun surfing behind this boat.

Any suggestions for a first board? I have surf med behind Axis’ and Gs and am progressing on a 360, but I don’t have the coin to drop on a new boat so I’m stuck with this. Thoughts on boards?

I have an 03 SANTE and I ride the 5’4” hyperlite quad. I upgraded the rear bags to 550s and made a suckgate. I ride ropeless with no issues and only wife and son in the boat. Is it a monster wave...no.

I also have a ronix koal I tried some 360s on last year but didn’t have a lot of time to try. I REALLY like this board too. With some extra people I’m sure it is possible to pull off.

I think you’re underestimating what kind of wave you can get. It won’t be great but a board won’t be your limiting factor. If anything just be conservative and don’t get anything at the high end of your weight. I’ve ridden all kinds of boards behind my super sport with the same hull. It has a good push. It’s just a small pocket.

We never had a suck gate, but when I had that hull (05' 210), we had good results by listing to whichever side you surf. Makes a good, albeit steep wave.
