Surf setup tips or updates for older 210's

Funny because last summer I spent time setting up piggy back wedge sacs on top of my hard tanks. It works but is a PITA to drain because you need to disconnect the bags to let the tanks drain without crushing the tanks. Then you need to remember to connect them back so you don't flood your bilge next time out.

So one year later and I am planning to take out the tanks and put in fatsac 750's to simplify everything. I still have all original pumps and frankly they work just fine and are pretty cheap to replace if one goes not to mention access will be easier with tanks gone.

So like you...wish I got the 750's from the beginning!

Did a week of vacation this week and had lots of experimenting with different setups / placement...
I picked up a 500# sumo bow sac that seems to get mostly full, cutting out the bow cooler with an oscillating saw was about 10 minutes of sweaty misery but definitely worth it. I also added a 225# on the floor in the walkthrough to the bow, stock belly full and 700ish each side in the rears... with 3 people in the boat the wave was large and clean and had plenty of push for my 240# on a 4'8 skim board (ronix Cortez)

I tried the empty belly tank route but found the wave didn't quite have enough oomph for me, but it was perfect for one of the lighter riders on board... longer pocket with less curl - definitely worth a shot if you're under 180...

So after some investigating and changes of our paths on our semi shallow lake we found a a pretty good run that got us the depth needed to drop the rope.

My wife was easily able to drop the rope after a couple tries (legit never wakeboarded or surfed and once we got her up for a total of 20 minutes over a couple days she dropped the rope)... now she’s hooked!!

We are still running the 550s and stock belly with the random kids here or there. It’s surfable but it’s not a G or Axis size wave. Bought a spare 750 from a member here and going to use that as some extra oomph at least until another one to pops up and I can replace the 550s. Still likely need a bow bag because we usually surf just the two of us and the kids.

Ive heard of people plumbing bow sacs through the overfill hose of the stock tank, but I’ve never been able to figure out how they drain it, I feel like a good bit of water would still be in the bag .. any clarifications?

I used a 1" y off the belly tank fill pump with ball valves to the belly and bow sac (may switch to solenoids at some point but I had the valves around so I used them) I put in an additional 1" through hull drain above the glove box drain and have an additional drain pump for the bow sac that I have wired in parallel with the belly sac empty pump. I will likely change everything to seperate switches in the off season, my 02 has individual pumps but only one fill and drain button.
I have intentionally stayed with aerator pumps as I've found they are most cost effective, move plenty of water fast, have no issue with being left on too long and have lower draw than impellers (just my .02)

So I did it today...750 fat sacs using original aerator pumps. Works like a charm and definitely enough room in the 03. Fill and drain times not bad at all. Another benefit is now there is easy access to engine and ballast pumps if one goes bad.

Where exactly do you mount the wake shaper ? I’ve got an 04 210. I’ve been putting it right in front of the transition of the Hull.

Mission Delta reverse mounted so the suction cups ride ahead of the blade. The blade is as low and far back on the hull right in front of the angled part of the hull. Seems to work best for us. We have to have weight in the bow. 400 lb sac or a few people

This is 750 on port side and 600 in bow but only using about 300 in bow and about 200ish in starboard side

I need to add more weight though when the boat has a few people in it the waves good and has a lot of push. But if it’s just me and my wife the 750 p 200-300 st and few hundred in the bow doesn’t really have much push it’s definitely surfable but when you start playing around and get pretty far back iv got to work my *** off to get back up to the sweet spot..I’m about to make another shaper and try both on one side and see how that’s works..it’s been proven by many people that it does work better to lengthen the wave but idk about on a og

I was thinking about the small channel that rides below the side of the hull on our boats and wanted to know if anyone has put any thought to building or modifying a suck gate to help divert the water from this portion and if it would help build the wave.

Surf Mode https://www.surf-mode.com/ suck gate might fit down there, and it comes with 2 of them. If you watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOctS3_LZ3Y of 3 of them on a Maristar the wave looks pretty good, but then again there is 3 of them on the boat. They also have 400 lbs of lead and some small bags in the rear.

I'm going to try a few different things tonight and can report back what i get.

So I am definitely new to the OG 210 surfing club and I just pulled my tanks and am running the wakemakers replacement bags about 550 as thats all they said would fit(wrong), and the stock belly. I am thinking of adding some lead up front as we usually dont have a ton of crew but dont want to submarine it if the wife is driving. I have the new SWELL suck gate that rotates and expands and am still messing with the specifics on that.

On a side note...
I am wondering about how everyone has their drain pump set up, every time I fill my pump gets put in some weird position and I dont want to add too much stress on the fittings. Does everyone just leave it in the little pit on the bottom or do people build a plate there to limit the stress?

JAppler, I juste finish installing my new #750 bags in the rear lockers and I was also worried about the weight that would be applied to the drain pump when the bag was full. So I juste take a board of construction polystyrene 4'' and I cut it out so that it fits in the depression and I cut out a space for the pump. If you want to make it clean you can add a piece of carpet on top.
