On my 1996 Sport restoration, I really want to be able to do some basic surfing when its all done. I have no illusions that I can make her into a modern surf boat, but I want to do as much as I can.
The boat doesn't have a lot of space or ballast bags obviously. So I'd like to consider a transom mounted wake plate like the Switch Blade system. Has anyone done this on a 90's Sport or Ski and how much did it do for a surf wake (I'll also use a suck gate on side)?
Does anyone know of any alternatives to the Switch Blade...it seems crazy expensive for what it is. I'd even be willing to have a welder fabricate something as long as I had a good plan. Anyone know of any threads I have not found or ideas?!
