What’s up guys. Really need some help on slalom setup here. We bought the GS20 because we were told it surfs and skis very well. It took me about a month to perfect my surf setup and now I’m moving on to slalom. I’ve only ever skied a 210 closed bow Nautique. I am 230lbs and ski at 15 off, 32mph. Last night I made several lame attempts but couldn’t get out of the hole. 600lbs of people in the boat (not ideal) but still thought the ZR4 would have the balls. I drove for a friend who is about 190. Same issue. When I hammer the throttle boat just spins. Won’t jump out of the hole. Using the factory NCRS ski setting and have the plane assist on high. What are we doing wrong??

what is your elevation?
I had my GS20 at 6300ft with a 1235 prop and ZR4. I wight about 210#. It could pull me out no problem.
Surfing on the other hand was a joke. The boat simply could not get to or hold a surf speed with more than 2 or 3 people in the boat with full ballast.
If you are running the stock prop, (645 I believe) start there. You want to drop pitch -
If I understand you correctly you're experiencing cavitation when you're trying to get out of the hole. If that's correct it sounds to me like you may have too much prop on the boat and you're not able to hook up (spinning isn't winning). I'd find out what prop you have on the boat now and either contact your dealer or Acme (or OJ, I don't know who the Nautique prop wizard is. For MC it's Eric at OJ) to see what they recommend.
Be aware that there is always a trade off when trying to do it all. I run the stock recommended prop on my 200 Sport Nautique. It does it all very good but it doesn't do anything great. I knew this going in so I'm fine with what I have. I mean how many boats can you slalom in the morning then flip the switches and surf in the afternoon?Comment

GS22 at sea level. We use it primarily to ski. Never had any issues. Plenty of power, with a weighted boat or not. Snatched up a 260# buddy on a pretty aggressive ski last week.Comment

Elevation is 1370. Prop is bone stock 2018 GS20. She just sits and spins. Cavatation big time. How can we get these 409 ponies to rip my big *** out of the water?Comment

My issue is when I add weight over integrated ballasts. Can barely get going. 2020 GS20, elevation is 560. I just replaced prop with high altitude and heavy weight from wakemakers.com, but I haven't got it in the water yet.
With additional sacs in back and front i cant go more than 8mph on surf, and wake boarding it can't even get going.
But I've added a lot of weight. The weight you speak of I've never had an issue

There might be prop issues, but I'd also want to confirm that you have the right size ski for your weight. 400 ponies and 20 ft boat should get you out of the water if its propped right, but take it from a guy who got heavier over the years, too small a ski can be an issue as well.Comment

If you are getting cavitation, I'd also consider a more progressive use of the throttle than just dropping the hammer until you get the prop figured out. I have a 2019 GS 20 and same motor. Shocked to hear this. With 850-900 lbs of people in the boat, it pulls up a 280 lb slalom skiier fine.
The only lack of power we've experienced can be attributed to being extremely heavy for surfing. With full stock ballast plus an additional 800 lbs ballast aft, and a boat full of people, we need a couple people in the bow for the boat to accelerate adequately to 11 MPH.Comment
