    2019 G23 vs New GS24

    Hey Y'all,

Really need some advice here. I have talked with multiple sales guys and I am having a hard time deciding between a 2019 G23 or a brand new GS 24. Alot of them are saying the hull shape on the new GS's are similar to the G so if it is about the same price why not get a new boat. But just looking in person, the G hull is so much deeper. Any advice? Just looking to have the best surf wave for my $. I have found a few G23's with around 50 hours id be willing to pick up vs ordering the GS 24. Thanks!

If you are looking for, "the best surf wave for the money" based on your parameters above most defiantly purchase the G23 and you won't be constantly asking your if you made the wrong decision purchasing the GS 24

If you want to surf and wakeboard, get the G. If you want to ski/wakeboard/surf, get the GS. There is no comparison, no matter what the salesperson says.

The salespeople are not very forthright when it comes the the GS IMO. I called the salesperson at my local dealer a year or two ago and had a conversation with him about sales integrity after hearing him say something similar to a customer that really wanted a boat with a great surf wave. He was a sponsored Nautique rider and knew way better, but was just trying to unload a GS22.

I love the GS as a boat for what it is and what it is really meant to be - I honestly do. I just absolutely hate the GS for how dealers sell them and what unknowing customers sometimes think they are getting.

I bet I could guess where that was...

OP, if you ski at all, GS. If not G.

I have a GS22, but ski. Ski wake is OK. it is firmer and has a bigger bump than I would like.
I would love to have a G to surf, and a Ski to ski.

Thanks for y'alls help. I went and did a demo on a 2020 GS24 last night..... no matter what settings we had the NCRS and NSS at... there wasnt any push.... the wave was beautiful but no energy at all. The salesman driving said he had surfed behind it before and he used the same settings and this was odd..... I guess a G is the better bet after-all.

GS is what brought me to Nautique initially. We loved our 2018 and logged about 200 surf hours behind it. It took quite a bit of time dialing in the wave to be what we wanted though. To give you an idea, on top of the factory ballast we had 750lbs bags in both lockers (full) and would run between 300 and 800lbs of lead depending on the size of crew we had out - so, out of the box not the G wave, regardless of what the sales guy says; but you can build a great wave behind it. I'm 6'0 and, depending on what the weekend was like, between 215 and 225 and never really struggled to surf behind it.

The G is just a different boat all together.

              Things we loved:

              - Driveability - was super responsive, easy to get around the lake, in and out of marinas, etc. even at its length
              - Ability to build great waves and wakes
              - Great for pulling tubes too, I don't see this talked about much (maybe for good reasons), but with kids of all ages and abilities, we spent some real time pulling tubes, and it's a different experience than pulling behind the G.
              - Space - I have three teenagers so we typically had a bigger group with us and having the additional seating was nice
              - Transom seats. These are a crowd pleaser - added to the 2020 G, but not 2019.

              Things we didn't like:

              - Out of the box wave wasn't great
              - With all the weight we added we had to reprop; also note that we had the H6 engine; which would now be the ZZ6 which I think is a must on this boat.
              - low freeboard means lots of spray
              - lack of good storage space - bags in rear lockers and coolers in under seat compartments robbed quite a bit of storage

All that said, we just ordered a 2021 G23...
