    Need advice on extra ballast.

I'm looking at adding extra ballast to my 2020 G23 for next season. I wanted to get 2 large sacs that will go in the rear storage compartments. They would plumb into the current system and would fill seamlessly when the other tanks are full. They would also drain the same way. This would give us the option of using that storage when the sacks aren't filled. We could also drain them for any longer trips up the lake to conserve fuel. Our dealer suggested we just get sacks that we would fill with a pump we stick in the lake. Then leave the sacks full all summer and only fill the current ballast tanks as needed.

I knowshý there is the option of lead weight etc. But that is not something I want to get into right now. Thanks in advance for your help.

Does anyone have any experience with either? What do you think is the better option? I know there is a cost difference but I lime the idea of having them plumbed into the system. It seems easier and more tidy to me.

Thanks in advance for your help.

What is typical cost for adding these after-market plumbed-in systems?

Putting too much weight in the rear lockers of a late model G23 will cause the surf wave to wash out. This has been covered before in these threads. Weight in the rear lockers is fine for wakeboarding.

The regular side wave will be washed out. This is because the starboard side NSS plate (the one that makes the regular wave) will be too deep, water will flow over the NSS plate and wash out the regular wave.

The goofy side has less of a problem because prop torque will lift the port side NSS plate (the one that makes the goofy wave) higher so it doesn't have water flowing over the top.

Greg is correct. everyone is always added a ton of weight in the rear lockers causing the efficiencies of the nss to be affected negativly. These newer boats tend to like evenly distributed weight with a slight favor in the rear in my experience.
