    2020 GS22 wakemakers bags

    Hi everyone
    just made the trade of my 2017 210 for a 2020 GS22

I had the WM ballast bag exact fit in my 210 and it was perfect.
    690lbs bags in each lockers.

In GS22 The « pro surf » comes with 350 fatsac.
just wondering is the Wakemakers are 800 each or dual 800 (400 each).
what are the size of the bags and some pictures maybe ?
To see the space it left in the lockers.

wrote to them a week ago and never had any respond
    thanks !

Don’t know the answer but I’ve never had good luck emailing Wakemakers. The best way to get them is by phone.

They are 800 each. I ordered at the end of July and still waiting for mine. They said 4 to 6 weeks back then. I'm going to call them next week and bug them

Following this thread and I would love to see any pictures of the lockers with the 800’s full that anyone may have .....

Having just bought our 2020 GS22 in June we’ve been LOVING this boat . But with all the kids now back to school we find that the 350’s that come with the Pro Ballast set up are a little light when just my wife and I go out to surf. I’m thinking about doing the plug & play upgrade but I’d love to hear about anyone’s experience who has done it and if they think it’s worth it.

I have the bags on my '19 22. They are 800# each, plug and play.

Wakemakers used my boat to design the new bags. I took my boat to them, they had it for 2 weeks to develop them.

When completely full, there is still enough storage on top of them for wetsuits, vests, ropes. Not a lot of room, but enough.

Actually filling them completely adds too much weight to the stern if there are more than 2 people sitting in the back seats. The wake washes out.

We typically run 70-80% full, I also have 300# of lead up in the bow.

The only issue I have had with them is the starboard hose quick connect has popped off a couple of times. I ended up making the engine divider hole bigger so the hose can move more freely and then zip tied the clamp on the quick connect so it can't come off

With the 800# bags, how do the dashboard controls work? Can you set the system to "recognize" the larger bags and use auto fill to 70% or does it become a manual process with the new bags? My 2021 GS22 should be arriving in early October and thinking about ordering the larger bags ahead of time.

I totally agree that filling the 800 full is too much and you absolutely have to put bow weight too.
like in my 210, I had both 750 on rear locker and 500lbs bow bag too.

thats why I posted my comment in the first place.
I may be ordering completely custom bags instead of the ones Wakemakers have done.
              like a 450-500lbs bag.

and for the Linc system. I don’t think it can recognize the new bag.
but it’s a good question. If it is like in my 210 you just fill all 100% and let the pump work and stop them when the bags are full

Do you have any pictures or videos of the install? Bought the wakemakers package for my GS22. Just got it and don’t want to screw anything up. Thanks so much.

Bumping this up. I got my bags today and gonna install them this weekend or next. Anyone care to disclose their optimal setup? Either goofy or regular. I'm going to start with the bags 3/4 full and then I'm putting an extra 350(old bag) up in the bow. One other question. Has anyone built a false floor to go over the bags and protect them? Curious what materials and how did you measure it. I think I'm going to do this over the winter.

I had to bug Wakemakers a couple times but they finally overnighted them to me at their cost. I think was 8 weeks to receive from order date

Okay I did the install and it’s not that quick of job. There were two of us working on it simultaneously and it still took almost two hours of farting around. The big thing is we seem to be having problems getting our sub floor ballast to drain now. Evidently this is a problem for a lot of people? We did get a wave with a bit more push but it’s hard to fine tune the wave now as we have to open the locker and estimate how full the bags are on each side. Never did fill our extra bag in the bow we just had the sub floor at 100%.

first thing is I need to see if the ballast sensors are working. I see that some people are disconnecting them. This looks to be not quite a super upgrade as I thought it would be. That’s my first impression anyway.

thank you very much for your impression.

Like you said maybe not that worth :/

but if I can say something
                      nautique always liked bow weight.
So obviously if you put more in the back the boat will perform better with little more weight in bow too

enable "quagga filter" in the linc under dealer settings. this will extend the fill and drain times for the ballast tanks. The sensors seem to work decently with the wakemakers bags. However, there are times when they will read low, then 1 second later they read 100%.
It seems like my port tank has a tough time emptying all the way. I think my sensors are bad. The dealer is looking at them now.

I did enable the quagga filters. My port side will say it’s 0% and then the next day it will say 80% when I turn the boat on. I’m learning to just use the swimstep as a gauge as to whether or not there still ballast in the tank.

That is too bad. I was looking into adding the larger bags on my GS as well but not if it is going to add problems to fill and draining. I would have thought the bags would have been developed to use the same hose and connector that Nautique uses for the 350# bags that are already there. So you would just disconnect the existing bag and plug the connector into the new bag.
