93-97 Sport Nautique wedge placement

So I got tonplay with the surf setup with my 96 Sport restoration last week. I’m under no illusion that this boat is ever going to be a great surf boat, however I’d like to have some fun with it surfing.

We have the original Swell wedge that we use on the 211. I tried to put it on the Sport but I couldn’t find a placement that kept the wedge under the water. It just created a silly rooster tail the directed the water straight up on the side of the boat and made no impact on the shape of the wake at all. Has anybody found a wedge placement on a 90’s Sport hull that works at all?

My BIL has a MC X10, and we had a similar problem. We got a Nauticurl Flex, and it allowed us to place it in a better location. I think Swell also has a shaper for those tough to fit hulls, but I have been impressed with the Flex.
