Calling all Sport 200 owners

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for your thoughts on steerability, control, and tracking of our Sport 200s. We have transitioned to the Sport 200 this year after owning a direct drive for about 20 years. I feel that I have much less control of the boat than I did when driving the direct drive. I have also been told by my driver that when I slalom that I really toss the boat around. I have not been able to feel this myself since I'm the only one that does any hard skiing behind the boat. I figured since the boat uses the 200 hull and has three tracking fins that it would drive and handle more like a traditional ski boat.

Any thoughts, insight, or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Also came from a direct drive. 2004 216. My 2011 sport 200 handles very similar. Assuming ur skiing from the center pylon? I’ve never experienced my boat being pulled any different than my 216 when skiing.

I came from a 07 MasterCraft X2 and the boat is on rails compared to that. We also have a Malibu Response LXi at the dock. In comparison to the Response it's not that far off in handling but still not the same as a straight inboard. I feel it has a better slalom wake, everyone likes the trick wake better and with a shaper and piggyback bags it surfs acceptably. As far as getting pulled around, yes you do feel a good skier more without a doubt but I can get the boat through the course without much effort and we have INT level skiers that I've pulled.

Check the prop to see if the stock prop is still on the boat. Sometimes that will make a big difference and also make sure you have the tab set for slalom and that it's actually working.
