I don't have supplemental, but on our P23 we typically run at 12.0, full ballast for the adults, and 4-7 on the wave depending on what board we are riding. If I'm riding anything other than port side toe side (the way I learned) I'll lower it to 1-2 setting as I'm still getting comfortable with it. We find the wave is long, clean and can get very steep at 12.0, give it a shot.

Yep. I like the wave longer than steeper so as I increase the height of the wake, I speed up the boat. The Garmin makes this really easy.

Just following up on this. What are people running to get an optimal wave on the G23 with supplemental ballast. i just rode on a malibu M220 and note the wave is cleaner at a lower speed. Thoughts?

There is no "optimal wave." Anyone who says so is full of it. There are so many variables. It depends on how many people are on the boat and what kind of wave you like. What's optimal for me isn't optimal for everyone.

I still usually do belly and both rear at 100% and supplementals at 50%. I'm usually at 12MPH at 5 or 6 on the wave but it depends on which board I'm on. I tend to go with a steeper wave on a surf style board. Smaller on a skim.

Now my wife surfs on a much smaller wave. Belly and both rears at 50% and none in the supplementals. It's a much smaller wave, but there's plenty of push.

Thanks Charles for this advice! I see the wave that Shaun Murray has on his videos and it is super long and clean but I can’t ever seem to get mine there. I asked him (in the comments) what he does and he said he runs full ballast all around at 4-5 wave at 11.4. Even running those specs, my 2022 G23 doesn’t put out a wave like that. I’m going to try your 50% supplemental at 12.0 and see how it works out. I would love a long, clean wave with lots of push.

My recommendation would be increasing your speed to clean it up if you’re running full ballast. The more ballast, the more the speed will have an impact on your wave and wave length but still maintain a ton of push. I ride full ballast and usually run between 12 - 12.5 mph. Hope this helps.
