Driving advice for switching sides when surfing

We have a 2020 GS20 and recently we have been thinking about trying to switch sides while on a surfing run. When we are surfing the boat naturally "pulls" to one side, and that switches when you push the button to switch sides. My inclination is to try to adjust and keep the boat going straight during the switch, but I am not sure if that is the correct technique.

    Thanks for any advice!

As the driver you absolutely want to keep the boat path straight for your rider. Transferring from one side to the other is pretty straightforward once the surfer has the ability to surf on both sides. I would suggest your riders begin by practicing surfing heelside before trying the transfer. To do this they need to position their feet so that the riders heels are about 2-3 inches from the rail of the board. The rider must sink their knees down so the majority of their weight is on their heels. After much practice this begins to feel normal. To transfer the riders shouts "Transfer, Transfer, Transfer" to give the driver notice. The rider should be positioned closer to the boat than normal. Once the driver is ready to transfer the wave the riders shouts 1, 2, 3! We switch the wave on 2. The rider watches the wave, when the wave begins to distort, the rider hops over to the other side, ready to ride heelside. It opens a whole new world of challenging and different tricks. Here is one of the best heelside riders Joey Harris showing how its done! https://www.instagram.com/p/CgPPCmcjudW/ Good luck!
