Hello all - particularly any 2021 G21 owners especially if your resigned to saltwater!
Sadly we’ve never used either of our G21's in fresh water. I have thought about emigrating to the USA many many times.
In this case having never seen the wake in fresh water I just don’t know the effect salt water buoyancy has on the wave.
I’ve looked at the Nautique John Ackerman video and it definitely looks better visually.

I feel the surf wake could be lots better in terms of push and length.
Currently I use all factory tanks at 100%
Wave set to level 10
Speed set to 11.8 mph
220kg (484lbs) of sandbags deployed in the following locations:
3 x 44lbs=132lbs total under the love/spotter seat
3x 44lbs=132lbs on the bow seats which I move to the side that’s being surfed
5x 44lbs = 220lbs stacked on the very rear stern seat in the relevant corner of the side being surfed to list the boat over.
In other words I move the bow & stern weight together each time we change the surf wave side.
In regards to bodies, I have a body on the rear transom seat on the side being surfed and if I have another spare body I place them either on top of the sand bag pile on the rear corner seat in the cockpit or have tried moving them to the bow seat on the side being surfed both of which to list the boat even more.
Also we always go out with a full fuel tank and rarely does this go below 50%
I thought my last 2020 G21 was hard to set up but as the 2021 hull is supposed to be designed for surfing and the 2013-2021 was not I’m surprised with what I’ve got.
I realise everybody is going to say more weight but I still want to hear it, how much, where and what theyve tried.
I really appreciate anyone’s comments (apart from I need more body's/friends)
I spoke to Wakemakers and they don’t do a retro fit kit for the 2021 G21 hull. They came back with the comment of :
Thanks for contacting WakeMAKERS! This is a redesigned hull where we haven't been able to test the setup for adding ballast. The 2021's also have a pressure sensor in there which if you don't have the upgraded factory pro ballast, then it will not work adding additional ballast to you boat as it won't fill the extra bags.
As far as I know 2200lbs as part of the "team" package is all that was and is available (in terms of ballast options) with the G21 2021 onwards - anyone also care to comment ?
Ive dared to ask them to double check this...
Matt
