I've spent most of my boating life rolling my eyes at people who say you don't need more ballast on a boat. Yeah, I guess you don't "need" it but more weight will make the wake/wave better. But that's not really true on the 21+ G23. Supplemental was absolutely necessary in my opinion. Anything over that is incredibly diminished returns. Since the wave is so tall, I tried putting about 300lbs of lead in the bow to make it even longer but the lead didn't really do much. The lead is still there but only because I'm too lazy to take it back out. You can play around with it if you want but you'll probably find the lead isn't super useful. I moved 700lbs of lead around in different ways and finally sold off most of it. We may have finally hit the point where a stock ballast really is all you need.

Yea… the others not needing extra imho are the centurions with like 15 bags all over.
Note all my reference is for telescoping tower on new hull. So perhaps there is extra weight there.
In this case adding supplemental makes it steeper and beyond 30-50% (depending on crew) supplemental make surf wave wash at anything over “7.” Of which we only use for heavy surfers on smaller board.
Same for wakeboarding, much supplemental just adds steepness and wash at the max steep 5 setting. 5 no supplemental is where it’s at
That being said, by all means mess around with the bags and see what you get.Last edited by 99bison; 08-30-2023, 05:49 PM.
